Flat Roof Replacements - GRANTS AVAILABLE NOW!

Flat Roof Replacements - GRANTS AVAILABLE NOW!

Sadly the flat roofs we are talking about look more like the one below and not the one above (Marina Sands Infinity Pool, Singapore).

If you are a block manager or manage top floor flats for your clients, you may be interested in this article.

There are grants available to subsidise the cost of renewing a FLAT ROOF!

The table below shows what grant you would get on FOR EACH FLAT ROOF:

So for a 3-storey, 15 flat block (5 top-floor flats), the totals would be:

Gas heating: £1,500 - £2,500

Electric heating: £4,500 - £9,000

If you are working with any roofing companies or have any decent sized jobs planned on a block of flats in the coming months, then get in touch.

Q&A

Does this really work?

Yes - Eco Matters has contributed more than £100,000 to the cost of flat-roof works in the last few years (references available). It's early days and we'd love to be updating this article with a number between £500,000 and £1,000,000 in 12 months time though!

Will we need extra insulation that will offset all the benefit of the grant?

NO! Most certainly not! These grants only need you to do the job as you would have done anyway - to meet current Building Regulations.

Sounds great. How do Ecomatters make money?

We've already factored in our margin when we quote the grants per flat. The figures above are what you will get. Full stop.

Will this mean loads of extra paperwork?

NO! For once in our industry regulation has gone the right way and what would have been very time consuming last year is now much much simpler. That is why I am writing this article now. Allow an extra hour or two for the first block we do together. After that it will take even less time.

Our flat roof already has all the insulation it needs but needs a new weather-proof coating. Do we qualify?

No, sadly not! If it has some insulation but not enough to meet current Building Regulations though, please get in touch.

Where does this scheme apply?

England, Scotland and Wales, but not Northern Ireland at the current time.

What is this scheme called?

The Energy Companies Obligation (ECO): https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/eco/about-eco-scheme

In that case it isn't actually a grant but a carbon or cost-saving related amount that the energy companies pay to procure energy or cost-saving measures because of Government legislation?

Absolutely correct! Go to the top of the class! For most readers it is easier to talk about it as a grant though. It looks and feels like a grant!

We work with local roofing companies - how do we know that we are not going to find you quoting for these jobs?

We don't have our own directly employed roofers. We are delighted to partner with good quality roofing companies that will do all the roofing work (references from other roofing companies available).

What about other insulation for blocks of flats?

Yes we'd love to help, just get in touch!
