Introduction

Sarransh Kumar’s entrepreneurial journey was not built on success alone—it was shaped by failures, hardships, and an unbreakable spirit. Before founding Lapicart, he spent 13 years as a professional, worked at top companies like Wipro and Extramarks, and launched two startups that eventually shut down.

His first business, a coliving startup, started with just ?90,000 and grew to 32 facilities with 300+ customers. It was even funded in 2017, but unforeseen challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic led to its closure in 2020. Left without direction, he took up a job at Extramarks, only to face another setback when the company shut down its India operations in 2023, leaving him jobless again.

But this time, Sarransh knew one thing—he would either build a business or do nothing at all.

The Idea That Changed Everything

At his lowest point, unsure of what to do next, Sarransh texted a venture capitalist he had met during his previous startup. To his surprise, he received a reply. The investor recognized his struggle and guided him—telling him to solve a problem he had faced himself and start something he could build without much capital.

That’s when it hit him—he had personally struggled to find affordable, reliable laptops twice in his life.

1. During his first startup, when he needed good laptops for his developers but couldn’t afford them.

2. At Extramarks, where he borrowed ?15,000 to buy a second-hand laptop, only for it to fail within 22 days—leaving him helpless during his training.

This frustration turned into a business idea, and Lapicart was born.

Starting With Just ?40,000 to ?1 Cr in 7 Months

With no external funding, Sarransh started Lapicart in 2024 with just ?40,000. Instead of selling all kinds of used laptops, he focused entirely on premium-condition MacBooks—offering quality assurance and warranties that traditional second-hand sellers didn’t provide.

His deep market research, which involved traveling across India for four months, validated his idea. Customers wanted high-quality pre-owned Apple devices—but with reliability and trust. In just 7 months, Lapicart crossed ?1 Cr in revenue and has been cash-positive since Day 1.

The Name amp; Rapid Growth

Choosing a name was crucial. Sarransh believed a brand should be easy to relate to, and since it all started with laptops, Lapicart was the perfect fit.

Despite being a young startup, Lapicart has already achieved:

no financial backing, faced multiple business failures, and even struggled to survive after his

startup shut down.

But he never gave up.
