Lapedo from Leiria, Portugal

The magic moment was when we could hear the strong wind blowing over our heads. The dark hall was filled with kids sitting before the black curtain.? Suddenly two actors in black clothes rotated two tables. The mystical sounds I heard came from hanging bells attached to the bottom of the table. The enchantment ecco brought me back in time and space to the beginning of the world.
Lapedo is the skeleton of a five-year-old child founded in the Lapedo Valley close to Leiria, the beautiful city where I spent my spring break. He/She got their name from the green valley where they lived. It is the only evidence of Homospien life from 29,000 years ago in the Ibirian Penisula and therefore is a national Portuguese heritage.
Scientists approved that in the Iberian peninsula, the Homosapiens and the Neadretals shared the territory at the same time.
I do not understand Portuguese but I? enjoyed the marionette theater that I saw. The three marionettes represented a small family. They were created with lots of love and imagination. I could feel the kids’ empathy for the local hero who is an independent child. At their age, he/she( scientists are not sure if a boy or a girl) could hunt a rabbit, cook their dish, and sew clothes from the fur.
At the end, the actors opened the window and the kids saw the actors and asked questions. They were curious about the? Lapedo’s height and facial expressions. I complimented the actors for their creative way of bringing to life a prehistoric child.
I hope that every kid will take a brush and draw their beloved real or imaginary animal on the wall as the Lapedo drew.
