Learning to cut with scissors involves a LOT of skills you probably never thought about. Children must have correct grip and hand positioning, good hand-eye coordination, the right amount of control of pressure, focus and attention, directional awareness, safety awareness, and be able to stabilize materials. Occupational therapists help children learn all these skills! Sometimes they use adaptive scissors called "loop scissors" as seen in the picture. Loop scissors helps children develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination in a fun and engaging way.
