Landmark In-Person CPD and Networking Event Kicks Off in Perth, WA

CA Sri Lanka - Australia Chapter (the Chapter) conducted it's inaugural in-person CPD and networking event in Perth in collaboration with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) on 10th October 2023.

Demonstrating the Chapter's commitment to enhance camaraderie among CA Sri Lanka members, and further expanding it's services across Australia, the CPD event in Perth discussed the pertinent topic of "Accelerating Finance Career with Data Science". The event was held at the CAANZ premises in Perth and attended by CA Sri Lanka members and members of other professional accounting bodies.

Speaking at the session, Professor Jac Birt, Deputy Dean, UWA Business School, touched upon a wide range of topics related to the evolving landscape of accounting and finance. She highlighted the significance of data visualization strategies and programs to transform vast amounts of data into actionable insights for both management and clients.

Mr. Nisarg Shah, Managing Director, COREIT delved into the multifaceted role of data science within the realm of business. He stressed that data science is fundamentally about addressing critical business drivers. Mr. Shah emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between past and future perspectives, highlighting that unplanned outages represent a substantial threat to businesses, and predictability is the key to mitigating such risks.

Subsequent to the main presentations there was a vibrant panel discussion and an interactive Q&A session, which was moderated by Angela Wickremaratne . In addition to the main presenters, Dr.Daniel Cahill, Lecturer at UWA Business School joined discussion as a panelist.

Following the CPD session, the participants and speakers joined for a high-energy networking session facilitating active engagement and conversation among the speakers and participants.
