Landing THE job you really want

Landing THE job you really want

Know your WHY

Before you begin walking towards your dream job, it is important to understand where you’re headed and what makes you truly excited, enthusiastic and curious instead of making you struggle, sacrifice and feel compelled.

What is it that brings you joy, what gets you ticking? As deeply philosophical (and farthest from your job-hunting quest) as that may sound, believe me, in that answer lies the very foundation of who you are and what brings meaning to what you do each day.

“Growth” and “giving” are two very good reasons. You may be a well-paid accountant at a multinational banking firm or a senior supply chain manager at a global e-commerce company, but if you’ve never “discovered” your inherent ability(ies), your talent or skill, it’s unlikely that you will ever find THE job that you REALLY want.

It’s possible that you may have been talked out of what you want to be for a variety of reasons. These may be your own limiting beliefs, your fears or the cultural norms and traditions of your community. But don’t let any of that hold you back from living to your highest potential.

The two most important days in life are the day you were born and the day you find why
-Mark Twain

Once you know your 'WHY', the universe becomes aligned with your path ahead. And abundance in the form of an opportunity, the right connection, and the right timing finds its way to you along that same path. When you “discover” yourself, the universe does so too.

Service before success

The thing we often forget is that we are born to serve. Everywhere you go is a moment to offer someone a shift in perception. A service mindset can never fail to bring you success in any quest. For it is in giving that we receive, as the wise saying goes. No matter your inner vocation—whether you’re a teacher, a trainer, a business leader, or a healer—if you go about your task with the goal of serving others, success is bound to find you. So why chase after success when you can actually make it chase after you?

Take a look at how far you’ve come

Sometimes when the road ahead seems too difficult and your goal seems to become too chimeral to be achievable: maybe it's time to turn around. Not to go back, but to take stock of just how far you’ve already come. If you’ve traveled so far (and maybe so long) to get what you really want, chances are that you’ll eventually get there. Now that you’ve taken a glimpse of the road already traveled, turn around again and keep moving forward…

The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens.

Persistence with patience

Patience, they say, is a virtue. I agree; but so is persistence. When you mix the two ingredients, what you get is a potent concoction that’s hard to replicate. Don’t let them tell you about super successful people who made it in life one fine morning, without doing a day’s work. Don’t ever believe them, because that’s just a myth. What they don’t tell you is that each of those successful people had begun her/his quest a long time ago. And that they kept at it. And that they showed up. Every single day.

Remember: 80% of success is showing up…
