Land Flowing with Cattles & Bees?

I always wondered why God promised the Israelites a land flowing with MILK and HONEY.
Think about it, were the mountains literally oozing out evaporated milk and sweet honey? Lol. Nope!
Well from the report of the spies in Numbers 13:27 - 'The land surely flows with milk and honey, here is it's FRUIT'. So milk and honey were merely metaphors for FRUIT or in plain English 'FINISHED PRODUCTS'. Note, it was not flowing with cattles and bees. That would then suggest, it had RAW MATERIAL. It is safe to say, it was a PRODUCTIVE land with existing systems and structures.
The point here is God is more interested in finished products that he is with raw talents/gifts/materials etc.
This is why the people who sell finished well-refined products are predisposed to earning way more money than those who sell raw materials.
You sell raw food, have you considered making sumptuous meals? You sell crude oil, have you considered owning a refinery? You sell flour, have you considered owning a bakery?
Prov 12:27 - The lazy man does not roast (REFINE) what he caught in a hunt (aka RAW meat)
So a lazy man is one who does not PROCESS raw material to FINISHED PRODUCTS that can be easily ACCESSED and immediately UTILIZED by customers. Q.E.D

5 年Interesting as I've had conversations along this line but not in this exact same light. What I said was that the world isn't really interested in your process but your product. So don't look to them for encouragement as you fail your way to the top. Get to the top, anyway. Now I see that no-one cares while you're in the land of cattle and bees but once the milk and honey start flowing, they'll pay attention Word! Thanks for this!!

5 年The truth is that your write up symbolizes Nigeria and by extension Africa. We do not want to create or process our naturally abundant raw materials. More often than not we just want to consume finished goods and export raw materials. We look down on goods produced locally and prefer to even import stuffs as easy to make as toothpick. We can pray for the next 100 years just like the children of Isreal without the right perspective and mental attitudinal change we are going to be continually dependent on the Western nations and Asia.

5 年Bankole Williams I totally agree with you. Your article got me thinking... God is a creator and we are created as a creator ( in God's image) now I wonder less why God did not "stop" creation but it was recorded that he "rested"... This literally means that creation continued after His rest, by the Creator Himself or(and) his creation who is also a creator ( in His image) Creation or production requires mixture of materials innovatively - the materials are either naturally "Produced" or another human production turned "Material" for production. What I learnt from your article is key for success... Innovation! And I say to myself that I must deliberately create something in life before I leave. Thank you sir.
