Aven Restaurant – NEW OPENING?
Aven Restaurant opened its doors at the end of 2023 and has elevated the Preston dining scene. We’re lucky this one is on our doorstep. Named after the neighbouring Avenham Park, the food here aims to deliver a dining experience that Preston has never seen before. Tasting menus for lunch start from £45pp.?
Restaurant Moor Hall – Two Michelin Stars
Restaurant Moor Hall is the best Lancashire has to offer in terms of fine dining as it has not one, but two Michelin stars. It was also named ‘Best Restaurant in England’ two years in a row by The National Restaurant Awards. Food at this lakeside restaurant comes courtesy of talented chef Mark Birchall. As well as a tasting menu, there is a walk-in cheese room and they make their own charcuterie in-house. For an extra special treat, you can book a room and stay over. Their?more informal The Barn restaurant has also been awarded its first Michelin Star.?
Restaurant So-lo – One Michelin Star?
Not far from Moor Hall, also in the foodie village of Aughton, you’ll find chef Tim Allen’s first solo restaurant, So-lo . Over the course of his career, he has helped other restaurants earn a Michelin Star (he’s now on his fourth!), but So-lo is the first time he has done it completely on his own. Guests can choose from a three-course lunch menu (£45pp) to a six-course tasting menu (£98pp). This one is definitely on my list to visit this year.?

Northcote Hotel – One Michelin Star?
Northcote Hotel in the Ribble Valley is another Lancashire restaurant that has earned itself a Michelin Star. The food looks phenomenal, but it’s still affordable with set menus starting from £48pp for three courses. Another one to book for a night away, they do offers such as a One Night Gourmet Getaway you can book here .
The Cartford Inn – Two AA Rosettes
As well as being a boutique hotel recognised by The Times as one of the best places to stay in the UK, The Cartford Inn on the banks of the River Wyre has been described as ‘a great foodie find’. They offer afternoon tea, foodie getaway tours and dinner, bed and breakfast packages. For a really special occasion, blow the budget and book the Penthouse Suite with freestanding bath tub.?
Which one of these have you already visited, or are planning to?
