Lana’s Fabb New Start!
I don’t think that we have properly introduced our new Director of Sales for UK and Republic of Ireland? There is no time like the present!
Lana Fabb has a great network on LinkedIn and is already well known to many people here from her eight (and a half) years at Axis Communications . She says, “I loved working for Axis. It was a great brand to work for.” Lana knows that she learnt a lot at Axis. She also made some great friends.
Having worked with Lana for several weeks now, I’m not at all surprised that she has made a lot of friends in every team she’s been in – her sunny, positive approach makes her a joy to talk to! She’s got big plans for Observit Ltd, here in the UK: “Great things! When you truly believe in something and what you’re doing is making a difference to people, that is a powerful drive. Observit have got that – and what has been done already by the management team is incredible.”
Lana is clearly excited to be able to carry that torch forward into the next phase of our growth. “Once, I can help people realise how easy it is, to really understand what we do and the benefits, that will be me in my happy place!”
And Lana already knows she has come to her happy place with us here in Observit. She’s joined us at a time of change (not that there has ever been a time of stasis in technology!). We’re clearly doing something right though. “Everybody has been so nice, and not in a false way. It feels very organic. It feels very natural that people want to work together. Getting to know the teams in UK and Sweden has just been lovely and I was really shocked to feel that welcome so quickly.”

What are Lana’s three main tips for anyone starting out in Sales today?
1.??????Listen
“So many salespeople don’t listen. They tell you what they want to tell you, and they don’t listen to what you need.”

2.??????Don’t be afraid to be yourself
You might think you don’t fit in, but never be put off. The security industry can, at times, be a bit male-orientated. Lana remembers an early phone call she took, where a customer asked to speak to ‘one of the lads’. “Let’s see if I can help?” was Lana’s diplomatic reply. And she did. Lana believes that if you enjoy customer care (and she does) – then you’ll be good at what you do.
3.??????Take care of your mental health
Mindfully practising habits that foster good mental health is vital to Lana, “I’m pretty good at seeing if I’m struggling.”
Knowing when you are struggling is not a weakness, it's actually a superpower!
Cluckingham Palace
What helps Lana to stay focused in the moment is spending time with her girls – her egg-laying, feather flaunting, cluck-tastic hen girls, that is! And with names like Chick-olas Cage, Maggie Hatcher and Gwyneth Poultry, we can see why it would cheer you up to spend time at Cluckingham Palace, watching them eating around their chick-nic table. Equally important to Lana’s mental health is her active volunteering that supports her community – where she manages a local food bank – an increasingly busy and sadly vital role. Even her chickens are helping the community – with spare eggs donated to a church cooking hot dinners for people who wouldn’t always get a meal. Lana is not bored, that’s for sure!
We’re all looking forward to Great Things at Observit right now, and it’s Fabb-ulous to have Lana leading the sales team.
