Lamda Development's Plans for a "Smart" City

The future of real estate aligns with the need for "green" commercial and residential spaces. The demand for buildings designed and constructed with bioclimatic principles, certified for their exceptionally low energy and environmental footprint, is at the core of Lamda Development's strategy to transform Elliniko into a "smart" city.

The Ellinikon project includes an extensive plan for sustainable building certifications for both commercial and residential developments, ensuring the optimal application of sustainable development strategies through an independent international entity.

The "Green" Riviera Tower

A prominent example of the sustainable nature of Elliniko's buildings is the Riviera Tower, the first "green" residential skyscraper in Greece and one of the greenest in Europe.

This new architectural landmark, standing at 200 meters tall with 50 floors and 180 apartments, offers unobstructed panoramic views. The design features a visually simple building with a significant presence of green and water elements that enhance its bioclimatic character.

Nature is integrated into the building through a green slit with vertical gardens, symbolizing the principles of sustainable and biophilic design.

The combination of vegetation and water elements strengthens the building's bioclimatic character, while the design is based on reduced energy consumption, proper water management, and minimal carbon footprint. The skyscraper's gardens will be covered with native plants, requiring 60% less irrigation. The Riviera Tower has already received LEED Gold pre-certification for sustainable development.

High-Energy Efficiency Buildings

The entirety of Elliniko's buildings will be characterized by high energy efficiency and resilience to climate change, making them a valuable addition to investment portfolios that meet ESG criteria.

Energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources are fundamental design parameters aimed at reducing energy consumption during operation and preserving natural resources while simultaneously lowering greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate climate change.

Lamda Development collaborates with top international architectural firms such as Foster+Partners and Kengo Kuma & Associates, as well as leading construction companies like Avax and Intrakat, to realize the vision of sustainable, energy-efficient, and autonomous buildings in line with the company's strategy for the new city of the future.

What the "Smart" City Will Look Like

The development of Elliniko will be constructed from the outset with modern "smart" city infrastructure, utilizing advanced facilities and innovative technologies.

Specifically, to manage energy effectively and reduce carbon dioxide emissions, elements of a "smart" electrical grid will be installed, allowing monitoring, analysis, and control of loads to decrease energy consumption.

Additionally, the project will integrate other "smart city" technologies that extend to residential developments. These technologies will include Internet of Things applications that transform each building into a "smart" one, improving residents' daily lives, as well as a 5G fiber optic network that provides high-speed connectivity.

Each residential development will be equipped with systems that ensure energy efficiency and infrastructure to reduce residents' environmental footprint. In a "smart" home, everyday functions, from lighting and temperature regulation to security and daily shopping, are facilitated through technology. With the use of sensors, the owner of a "smart" home can easily and quickly monitor internal conditions, consumption, potential savings, and receive alerts in case of emergencies such as leaks. Appliances will also be remotely controlled through an application and automated to minimize the need for human intervention.

Visitors can get a glimpse of the future of housing at the already operational Experience Centre. In the Living Smart section, they can see in action what it means to operate a "smart" refrigerator, how air conditioning adjusts based on external temperatures, and the analysis and visualization of energy production and consumption information.
