Lambeth Autism Fayre at iOi London

Lambeth Autism Fayre at iOi London

On the 7th April the Lambeth Autism Group partnered with Institute of Imagination to host the first Lambeth Autism Fayre at the temporary site The Workshop, Vauxhall. A2ndvoice a voluntary autism group set up in May 2012, runs various community events giving parents, carers, autistic people and professionals the opportunity to connect with local and national organisations and charities.

Lambeth Autism Group and A2ndvoice are a voluntary group run by parents and carers with a child and/or adults on the autistic spectrum. We do not get paid for the services we run and are funded by donations, sponsors and apply for grants in keeping the projects going.

The event was free for Lambeth Residents and a small fee for non residents. The event was sponsored by Chairhire, Care Expertise and A2ndvoice. Supported by Frontier Support, Mike Ayers Designs, Mencap Lambeth, Cassandra Learning Centre, Special Needs Design, Special Help for Special Needs, Sensory Activation Solutions, Yo-tism, The Parent Practice, Mango Bottoms Restaurant, Hype Coiffure Hair Salon, Tony Sugaray and Divas Lets Talk

Special thank you to Deputy Mayor of Lambeth Guilherme Rosa @CllrGRosa for making time in speaking to all the stallholders and attendees. And also Malvina Edwards Drayton and Harsha Ganatra from the Lambeth Adult Steering Group for their support and Leslie Wilkins - Mencap Lambeth. (Check links to all those who attended)

With over 40 stallholders, 10 speakers, activities for young and old and the chance for everyone to participate in demonstrations with Wheels for Wellbeing, OT Play, SEN Talk, Disability Sports Coach, Special Yoga and Silent Disco with Ali Golding Founder MovementWorks and music by Tony Sugaray.

Thank you to our speakers Cos Michael - Ageing & Autism, Stephen Michaelis - Sensory Activation Solutions, Annaliese Boucher - SEN Talk, Nicole Zimbler - Yo-tism, Mark Brown - Special Help 4 Special Needs, Karuna Jackman - Special Yoga, Ali Golding - MovementWorks, Michael Barton, Jesse McQuilkin, Jasmin Hearts and others.

Hosted by CEO/Founder Carmel Britto Jeans-Heels Divas who worked tirelessly throughout the day. She set up #AutismAwareness campaign called #MyChildMatterssponsored by Divas Let's Talk (Jeans and Heels Divas) for mothers of #Autistic children and children with special needs to share their stories of trials and triumphs in their journey through #motherhood. The content was recorded and a short awareness video to be produced as part of the campaign.

Feedback to host in other boroughs and make it annual. I really don't mind hosting such events, but we will need to have a strong team who specialise in supporting autistic people and their families as well as making sure that Autistic People have input to make decisions too.

Special thank you to our volunteers Raquel More, Isa Sulaiman, Joyce Ramsay, Jason Swaby, Tracey King, Dean Taylor and Jasmin Hearts my youngest helper and speaker who remained positive throughout the three days.

Photography by Emadephotography who was able to cover the slot when the Deputy Mayor arrived and film coverage by Mark - Yo-tism.

We would like to thank our Institute of Imaginations, partners, sponsors, supporters and donors for the success of the first Lambeth Autism Fayre. Plans for 2019 in preparation.. To book sponsor, book a table, to speak, demonstration or to volunteers.
