The Southlake Backyard Transformation Vision

When our clients moved into their newly built home, they quickly realized their covered patio and empty backyard?didn’t align with their vision for outdoor living. With a growing young family, they wanted an entertainment-focused space that could evolve with their lifestyle. Their wishlist included:

• A resort-style pool and spa?with a dramatic infinity edge ?
• A covered cabana?with a swim-up bar and outdoor entertainment area ?
• A multi-purpose sports court?for games and activities ?
• Zoned spaces?to balance sun, shade, and relaxation

Overcoming Challenges

Every outdoor project comes with its unique set of challenges, and this one was no exception.

• Site Elevation:?The backyard had a 4-foot slope, making it difficult to incorporate all elements without overwhelming the space. To solve this, we designed multiple tiers that naturally separated zones while maximizing the layout’s functionality.
• Pool Placement:?With the pool set 3 feet above the covered patio, we had to ensure there was zero risk of flooding the home in extreme weather. Careful grading and drainage solutions made this possible.
• Balancing Features:?The client had an extensive wishlist, so we needed to design strategically to maintain an open, uncluttered feel while including all the must-have elements.

The Southlake Backyard Transformation Completed

The result is a stunning backyard retreat with distinct areas for every type of outdoor experience.

• The Water Element:?A breathtaking infinity-edge pool and spa serves as the focal point, complemented by a 24-foot-long, 7-foot-high water wall feature visible even from the front door. An acrylic pool window offers a unique underwater view.
• The Entertainment Hub:?The new sunken cabana is the ultimate hosting space, featuring a swim-up bar, TVs, refrigerators, and ample storage—perfect for game days, pool parties, or quiet evenings under the stars.
• The Sports & Games Zone:?Designed for family fun, this area includes a multi-purpose sports court and open space for cornhole, ping pong, and other backyard games.
• Sun & Shade Balance:?A raised composite sundeck on the west side takes full advantage of sunlight, while a shaded?fire pit seating area?offers a cozy retreat in the evening.
