Interior Design - Workplace Wellness

Did you know that the physical environment of your workplace can have a big impact on the mental health and wellbeing of your employees? Here are some simple environmental changes you can make to support your team's mental health:

Befriend Natural Light:

Sunlight can help regulate the body's natural sleep-wake cycle and increase serotonin levels, which can boost mood and energy levels. If possible, position desks near windows and use curtains or blinds to adjust the amount of light entering the room. If natural light is limited, consider using full-spectrum light bulbs, which mimic natural sunlight.

Encourage Plants:

Plants can help improve air quality and reduce stress. According to research, exposure to plants in the workplace can lead to lower levels of anxiety and fatigue, and increased feelings of calmness and wellbeing. Consider adding low-maintenance plants, such as spider plants or snake plants, to your workspace.

Make Color a Priority:

Colors can have a significant impact on mood and behavior. Calming colors like blue and green can help reduce stress and promote relaxation, while brighter colors like red and orange can be more stimulating and energizing. Use color strategically in your workplace to create a more supportive and positive environment.

Inspire with Art:

Art can help reduce stress and create a more calming atmosphere. Consider displaying artwork that features natural landscapes or abstract designs, which can help promote relaxation and improve mood.

Comfort Is Key

Ergonomic furniture can help reduce physical strain and discomfort, which can contribute to stress and anxiety. Invest in comfortable chairs and desks that are adjustable and provide proper support for your employees.

Noise Level:

Noise can be a significant source of stress and distraction in the workplace. Consider creating designated quiet spaces for employees who need to concentrate, and use noise-cancelling headphones or white noise machines to help reduce distractions in open-plan offices.

By making these changes, you can help create a workplace that promotes mental wellbeing, reduces stress, and enhances productivity.

"The two words that will change your life are "thank you". Like a candle that can light a thousand more without shortening its own life, appreciation is a gift that, when given, can set the whole world aglow."?– Stacey Lee.

As we continue our spotlight series, we're once again reminded of how lucky we are to be surrounded by such talented individuals. This week, we're shining a light on an extraordinary woman who has proven that almost anything is possible with hard work and dedication.

Please join us in celebrating?Ashley Rosen: Our inside sales agent for Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Illinois.

Since moving from shade production into the sales department, Ashley's progress has been nothing short of phenomenal. The transition from making shades to selling them is a formidable task for anyone, but she has made it look easy. The strides she has made in just over two years show in the sales numbers. In her first full year, 2021, the three territories she helps manage finished 13th, 17th, and 20th out of 23. In 2022 her territories finished 1st, 4th, and 8th. Her can-do attitude is infectious, and her eagerness to learn and grow in this position makes her such a fun colleague to work with.

Thank you, Ashley. You truly are a treasure!
