Lady Southern Cross Search Expedition II
I have just scheduled the final expedition to Myanmar to recover the wreckage and remains of the greatest aviator of all time, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and his co-pilot John Thompson "Tommy" Pethybridge who vanished off the coast of Myanmar on November 8, 1935, in the Lockheed Altair known as "The Lady Southern Cross".
This will be the 11th expedition conducted by the Lady Southern Cross Search Expedition II (LSCSEII) and the final search and recovery operation lead by me in what has been an overwhelming and extraordinary ten year journey.
I thank the Government of the Union of Myanmar, the people of Myanmar, the families of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, Tommy Pethybridge, Ted Wixted and Jack Hodder, as I do all the people involved in this project over the past 80 years, for their unwavering and continued support in the exploration of this history.
