Ladder Safety Month
According to the American Ladder Institute (ALI), over 300 people die in ladder-related accidents every year, and thousands more suffer debilitating injuries.
ALI has declared March to be National Ladder Safety month to raise awareness
of ladder safety in hopes of decreasing the number of fatalities and injuries related
to ladders.
Ladder safety is also a huge part of OSHA's new Walking-Working Surfaces final rule, so now is the perfect time to make sure you're in compliance!
Under the new regulations, employers are required to:
- Identify slip, trip & fall hazards and provide personal protective equipment.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance of all walking-working surfaces.
- Provide training for employees to recognize and minimize the hazards of falling. Training deadline is May 17, 2017.
