Lack of value in many dental marketing articles or tips.
Nothing should surprise me anymore, but it does every day again and again. What makes me mad is that this kind of superficial advice comes from self-professed experts in the field of dental marketing.
Below, you see a "tip" on video marketing. I recently found that piece of advice on video marketing, published by an otherwise respectable online journal. It's not the Journal I question but the Author of this "tip."
That is the advice given.
2. Video Marketing
"It has become a more mainstream and consumer-preferred form of marketing medium for many dental practices. In fact Experts have predicted that 80% of all content will come in the form of videos. Have someone to take high-quality videos of your dental procedures, as well as how-to dental tips each week."
It reads OK, at first glance but it leaves you not any wiser at the end. We all know that "video" is a great tool and that video marketing can be a significant factor in reaching new audiences, and it can help to increase patient flow. To suggest that taking high-quality videos of your dental procedures is neither necessary nor practical or essential.
The writer of the "tip" states the obvious. Video marketing is critical for any dental practice. I agree with that sentiment 100%. The tip" does not reveal however, how to get your videos ranked in the top 5 at least on YouTube. (YouTube is now the second-largest Search Engine after Google) and for that reason alone, your patients must find you on YouTube. Adding the video to your website is meaningless. ( I am not disputing that the video on the website might also persuade a few visitors who come to your site to book an appointment or inquire about any of the services you offer) but that is not how video marketing is supposed to work. Adding a video to a website is neither video marketing nor a marketing strategy.
The way it works. The internet user uses a search phrase. That triggers the video to show which in turn lead the visitor to your website,
The way you managed to get a video to rank on the very top has changed since Google now employs a different algorithm by which they judge which video goes on top and which one does not. I even go as far as to say that few "dental marketing gurus." know how to get your video to the top. I might make myself no new friends by being that blunt, but as I always say, I tell you how it is and not what you want to hear.
Of course, there are many excellent online dental marketing agencies and individuals out there who know what they are doing. Still, there are also a bunch of amateurs around not worth the money they get paid.
