Lack of Motivation is the Quintessential Non-starter by Marc LeVine

Having a rewarding career requires much more than just knowing your job well and being able to successfully navigate common daily occurrences, taking place within a company team environment. You must also bring great energy, passion, purpose and resolve to your work to achieve your career goals. We call this dynamic combination of "all things that matter" for goal attainment - MOTIVATION.

There is formidable power in MOTIVATION. You need to be initiative-taking if you ever hope to excel in getting things done exceptionally well and on time. Therefore, we must search for the spark that ignites passion and creates the motivation we need to succeed. The motivated, who go after and capture success will always be more successful than those others, who think it will come to them on its own.

What differentiates motivated people from others?

Those, who have self-confidence believe they CAN... so they will. Those without it believe they CAN'T... so they will not (try).

Those, who have purpose see great worth in DOING. Those without it, see no point in even trying.

Those, who easily overcome setbacks remain focused on purpose. Those without resilience often remain paralyzed and are unable to continue to goal completion --- and fail.

Those, who continually reevaluate and adjust within their current positions - often - land on target. Those who do not reevaluate and adapt are often thrown off course.

How to Stay Motivated:

Be smart in choosing your goals Ask yourself what you want to accomplish and why; being sure to weigh the pros and cons of each goal.

What is your purpose? Clearly understand the reason for each goal and you will be more motivated to achieve them.

Reliving past successes helps you achieve new ones. Congratulating and rewarding yourself on small accomplishments can help you stay motivated to continue working towards larger, more challenging goals. Stopping to take a bow and toast yourself is well-deserved and necessary to pumping yourself up to be extremely motivated.

Only surround yourself with positive people. Supportive people help keep your energy level high and helps maintain your motivation as you continue attempting to achieve your goals. Toxic people are motivation killers. Eliminate them wherever you can.

What it takes to convert motivation to results:

You will need sufficient time and patience to achieve your long-term career goals. Be sure to set realistic expectations for when you expect to accomplish each of your goals. Doing so can help you stay motivated to forge ahead and claim your ultimate success.
