BAE Systems Australia
Your career at BAE Systems Australia has Infinite Possibilities?
“When I was studying I thought.. I’ll end up making apps or something.
“Today, I get to work on world-leading technology and not everyone can say that about their job.”
Meet Lachlan, a Software Engineer working on the Jindalee Operational Radar Network – the primary wide area surveillance tool of the Royal Australian Air Force and one of Australia’s first lines of defence.
As a Software Engineer, Lachlan works closely with the team to develop and design software solutions for the JORN program.
“I’m fortunate to learn to from a lot of talented engineers," says Lachlan.
“There is a lot of differing levels of experience here, some people have 20+ years of experience with JORN, while others might have a couple of years but bring knowledge in other areas.
"For me, the most exciting part of working on JORN is the customer engagement and user experience work we are doing with the Royal Australian Air Force. That’s really cool for a software project.
“A lot of software projects involve a list of requirements and no access to the end user. Here, we’re working with our customer to refine our software.
“Working in an agile environment means there is a lot of space for creativity and innovation and personally, I feel like I have the opportunity to leave my own footprint on the program even in a minor way and that’s something I can be proud of."
