Jacques Lacan speaks of the Antigone in 1959-60 in Seminar VII which is entitled "The ethics of psychoanalysis", Einaudi, Turin, 1994. The ethics of psychoanalysis has nothing to do with the search for the good. Antigone brings out another sense of ethics.
The ethics of psychoanalysis is different from philosophical ethics, where morality commands the good. It tells us that the subject does not necessarily seek his own good or that of others. At the bottom of the human heart there is a "desire" that takes the tones of the imperative.
Antigone's yearning coincides with death, her own and others. Synthesize Lacan: << [...] The relationship to being [...] leads us to a more radical level of everything >> At the radical level we find the relationship of the human being with what motivates life itself, the drive for life. We find the desire to reach the central place of our existence from which everything is generated. And if we cannot access this place then life has no meaning.
This tragedy enlightens us on ethics, that is, on the desire to generate, on the desire that bases properly human life. Exhibition crossing the limit not only from Antigone with his iron determination to bury the corpse of his brother Polinice and bury with him an unfortunate past. Oversize is also the reason for Creon, old uncle king who does not understand is abides by to the written laws, wanting the good of all, that is preserving the law of the community conceived as universal, sovereign and as "supreme good".
The ethics of psychoanalysis is the ethics of desire that is not homologating for all. In the ambit of desire the ethical dimension means that it is desire that defines subjectivity. Each individual carries an absolute difference and cannot be defined on the basis of a normalization / homologation of the Good. It is the question of the desire that grounds the base that constitutes the subject.
For Lacan, subjectivity in psychoanalysis does not coincide between the ego and the subject. The subject of our unconscious is an "imaginary formation" (see the Lacanian theory of the mirror stage). The difference between the Ego, which Lacan indicates with the term "Moi" (rational nucleus) and the subject of the unconscious, which Lacan indicates with the term "Je", is that "Moi" is an adaptive mask to social relations and the " Je ”is desire.
The Ego, the "Moi" is "hetero-founded" like an onion, the "Je", subject of the unconscious, can only be defined with the key to reading desire. Desire is also a relationship with the body. << The function of the analyst would essentially be a bringing together >> (Lacanian theory of the Name-of-the-Father) the subject to his desire.

5 年francesca calioni bembo. I am glad that you are here and I thank you very much. Antigone is one of the most intense and commented figures of the Greek tragedy. Through this young woman, Sophocles, after having described in Oedipus the dramatic figure of his son subjected to a ruthless and inexorable destiny, depicts the figure of his sister, the icon, the symbol of brotherhood.

5 年Many violent and destructive adolescent behaviors have to do with obscure desires that point to the essence of their own foundation, beyond the established identity: erasing, starting over, being reborn, re-founding the cause of desire. Many thanks Alessandra Seguri for your interest and sharing.

5 年For Antigone, near the threshold of the Ate, (in ancient Greek mythology, a divine figure, goddess of blindness) history, the images of the world, the admirable things of man, evaporate. Many thanks? Mariella Beduschi , @Seguri Massimo for presence and sharing of the subject of the article.

5 年In the work already mentioned, Lacan highlights how Antigone, in the human relationship with his brother, has this thing common with her, of being born in the same womb and of being tied to the same father, a criminal father, and to the same mother, a wretched mother. Many thanks for your interest in the subject, Sandra Sotova.
