??Science News that took off in July

???? Evening Exercise for Better Sleep

New research published in BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine?has shown that small amounts of light activity before bedtime may improve sleep. The results showed that participants slept for nearly 30 minutes longer after completing short bursts of activity every 30 minutes before bedtime. Short cycles of exercise before bed also increased participants’ sleep periods by about 30 minutes.

???? A New Approach in Gene Therapy for Muscular Dystrophy

Scientists have created a new gene therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) that may not only help stop the disease in DMD patients, but might also help restore their damaged muscles in the future. In this study, researchers devised a way to deliver a correct copy of the very long gene that is defective in DMD. This approach leads to the creation of normal dystrophin proteins, which don't function correctly in DMD patients.

???? Promising Data from a Phase 2 Trial Testing a Personalized Cellular Immunotherapy

Last week, Nature Medicine published promising interim results from a phase 2 clinical trial evaluating an ACT regiment for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC).? The therapy tested involves CTLs specially designed to recognize a “neoantigen,” a protein specific to tumor DNA.? When the immune system recognizes these proteins as foreign, it can initiate an anti-tumor immune response against cells which express neoantigen.? Because of the specificity of neoantigens to tumors and not healthy cells, targeting these proteins can help concentrate treatment on cancer cells.?

????Specific Bacterial Strains are Linked to Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Reporting in Cell Host & Microbe, investigators have now identified specific strains of gut bacteria that are linked to a bowel condition called inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a term often used to describe the gut disorders Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

????? Webinar Events

What is a webinar event? In simple terms it's a webinar with more. More tools for engagement, more ways to immerse attendees in the experience, and more interactive features to keep your audience engaged. Our research shows that by incorporating these extra features, webinar events receive nearly twice the registration, attendance, and engagement compared to traditional webinars.
