Introduction
Labour Department is responsible to promote industrialization and industrial peace as well as observance of labour laws and rules.
It is mandated to promote investment and employment in the province.

Labour Courts
Judicial Forum established under the Industrial Relations Ordinance, 2002
Eight Labour Courts, presided by Senior District & Sessions Judges, five courts in Karachi and one each at Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana have been established under this Ordinance.
FUNCTIONS
Labour?courts deal with Labour Disputes and other rights guaranteed and secured to the Workers or Employers under the Industrial Relations Ordinance, 2002 and other labour laws.
Directorate of Labour
Directorate of Labour Sindh was established on 01.07.1970.?
Initially, the Directorate comprised of the Weights & Measures, the Manpower and Training, the Inspectorate of Mines, the Mines Welfare Organization, the Dock Labour Safety and the Workers Welfare Board.?
In the year 1978, the Weights and Measures Wing was taken away from the Directorate of Labour and it was merged with the Bureau of Supply & Prices.?
In the year 1980, the Directorate of Labour was further bifurcated and??it was left with Labour and Dock Labour Safety only.?

Functions
In order to achieve the objectives, the Directorate of Labour performs the following functions
- Registration of Trade Unions and other allied matters.
- Determination of collective Bargaining Agents and holding of Referendums.
- Settlement of Industrial Disputes.
Enforcement of Labour Laws relating to Factories, Shops, Commercial and Industrial Establishments.
Sindh Minimum Wages Board
The Sindh Minimum Wages Board was established in 1974, in terms of Minimum Wages Ordinance, 1961. The Board is an attached office of the Provincial Labour Department and its jurisdiction extends to the entire Province of Sindh. The Board is a tripartite body, having representation of employers, workers and the Government and has the following compositions:
i.???????Chairman appointed by the Government.
ii.??????Independent Member representing the Government.
iii.?????Member representing Workers of the Province.
iv.?????Member representing Employers of the Province.

To fix the minimum??wage??rates??of??workers??of Industrial?units/ commercial establishments.
To provide effective participation of Employers, Workers and the Government in fixing the Minimum Wage standard of workers.

3 å¹´Today employers are coming up with ideas how to maximize profits, exploit the working class, contract labour, third party contract etc. Why this is done because no terminal benefits have to paid. However output is expected from both regular and contractual. Are we following our religion in this respect.?????

Where is labor welfare which was there during the British rule and was seen even during the first thirty years. This was because these Pakistanis had worked and learned how they ran and saw the culture. No heart feelings
