We love labelling people, not knowing what they are going through. My 6th newsletter is based on this theme. It features my reflective thoughts, my learnings from the movie Jersey and a Doodle on this topic. If you like the content, please comment, share and subscribe to it !!
My Reflective Thoughts
Do we immediately label people basis how they are doing or behaving? Do we pause & think what is causing this? Probably a unmet need in childhood
Label: X gets overly defensive about feedback and criticism
Actual Reason: Probably the person was shamed in childhood when he/she made a mistake which led to an unmet need to feeling loved despite mistakes
Label: The person has challenge in emotionally connecting with people around
Actual Reason: Probably the person didn't get the love & support in his/ her childhood days which made the person very bitter towards others. When the person doesn't feel energized from inside due to lack of support, how will he/she give energy to others
Label: The person doesn't speak much
Actual Reason: Probably the person was ridiculed in childhood days when he/she spoke
While we can't change the past, we can give support to people by definitely not labelling them, by being there for them, by letting them be who they are and by showing loads of patience
Once the person gets confidence in you which may take some time, you can help heal the past wounds to create a happy future

Doodle of the Week from the Book: No Hard Feelings
I just love this book and is a must read for everyone
We often assume about others' feelings...The best is to Ask the person. I have often wondered why we don't Ask that often and instead let our assumptions keep getting piled up leading to a lot more of labels. A lot of inter-personal issues can be resolved if we are open and authentic with each other.
Lesson from Movie Jersey:
I saw this movie yesterday and I really liked it. What I loved the most is the beautiful relationship between the father & the son. His son is the only person who trusts him without judgement irrespective of whether he is doing well in his life or not. His son doesn't label his father like others when he is going through a tough time.
To me, confidence and belief in life comes from such people who love us unconditionally and without any labels.
