In this Q&A, Ayesha shares what excites her most about her work and how she and her team directly impact patients’ lives.
Describe your role as a chemist on Actalent’s Lab Services team.
I support the quality control and production of life-saving drugs distributed to over 50 countries. I play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, purity and efficacy of our pharmaceutical products. Through rigorous testing and analysis, I contribute to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety, thereby safeguarding the health and well-being of countless individuals worldwide who rely on these medications.
What is your background and how did you get into this field?
From my earliest days as a student, I found myself captivated by the intricate bonds and fusions of chemical reactions. This fascination propelled me towards a path of studying chemistry and biotechnology. Fortuitously, this journey converged with a larger purpose – the opportunity to utilize my passion for science to contribute to the noble cause of providing life-saving drugs to those in need across the globe.

What excites you most about the work that you do?
What truly ignites my enthusiasm in the work we do are the challenging projects that come with crucial timelines. The ability to navigate these deadlines and witness the tangible impact of our efforts on a global scale is immensely rewarding. It's the fusion of urgency, precision and significance that keeps me energized and focused each day.
How does the work you and your team do make an impact?
The work undertaken by our dedicated team serves as a critical safeguard, ensuring that every pharmaceutical product we manufacture meets stringent quality standards. By meticulously evaluating and validating the safety and efficacy of our drugs, we provide reassurance to healthcare professionals and patients alike.
