Laava Features Release Update - February 2023

It's been a really exciting start to the year and we have an excellent roadmap of features to be released in the next couple of months.

Our big focus this month has been the addition of a new feature:?Authenticated Scanning.

Customers and partners have been signalling the added value that authenticated scanning would provide if it could be integrated natively with Laava Smart Fingerprints? (LSFs).

Authenticated scanning unlocks many capabilities and use cases that have been requested including:

  • Improved verification process of fingerprints during the provisioning / delivery / print process
  • The ability for inspector roles to validate products using LSFs in market and throughout the supply chain for auditing and certification purposes
  • Smart Fingerprint NFT minting and transfer of ownership

In line with these changes we have continued to improve our encryption and security practices in our services to support these new capabilities.

Contact the Laava team to learn more, we'd love to hear from you. As always, we welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have.

Authenticated Scanning

To date, Laava has provided the ability for users to securely and anonymously scan Laava Smart Fingerprints over many platforms including: native web, WeChat, and native iOS and Android implementations using our?Webscanner API.

With authenticated scanning, LSF behaviour can change depending on the role of the user scanning.

By authenticating with Laava, you can configure rules to allow an LSF to display dynamic behaviours.

We're really excited by the breadth of possibilities this offers our customers and have plans to further expand on authentication this year with:

  • SSO
  • Enterprise Authentication
  • Web3 Authentication

We will be sure to update you as soon as these features are enabled!

Dynamic Behaviours

With authenticated scanning, different roles can be assigned to registered users. On scanning a single fingerprint actions can be enabled like the following:

A consumer scans an LSF:?Using any smartphone, consumers can be immersed in tailored brand engagement, verify product claims, securely enter competitions, register their warranty information or integrate NFT's with blockchain partners.

An auditor scans?the same?LSF:?Using the Authenticated Scanner on any smartphone, an auditor can append logging information, add tracking data, flag the product as suspicious or any other immediate action that may be required as part of an audit or certification process.
