Kyoto becomes a "Tourist hell hole".
Neil Newman

Nothing quite like an honest opinion to hammer home a point, this one from a Hong Kong finance executive on a not so relaxing trip to Kyoto this week.
In my opinion, I agree it has lost a certain amount of its lustre since the 'gaijin' mobbing of the beloved ancient capital became the norm and has now driven prices up, the locals indoors and tolerance of foreigners down.
Is Japan becoming burnt out as an inbound tourist destination?
Given the overall numbers of inbound tourists is only about half way to reaching the Japanese Government tourism target, it is a concern and a topic I recently discussed in my Japan Equities Strategy note Inbound Tourism Tops Out, a publication of a subscription service of Astris Advisory - this one published last week is free to read to non-subscribers.

We are based in Kabutocho, next to the Tokyo stock exchange and the seminars are an essential ‘boots on the ground’ ?look into what is currently going on in Japan and what is likely to occur over the coming months.
The seminars are open to corporate and institutional clients of Astris, those on our trial services (including individuals) and members of the press.
