'Kudos' politicians!

Correct me, if I am wrong! When it comes to latching onto opportunities, politicians are second to none.

Am I being a bit too brash? Pardon me if yours truly is ruffling feathers. But over the years, he has been a witness to our so-called Samaritans involved in a rat race to gain political mileage.

Take for example, the recent train accident in Odisha that has so far taken close to 300 lives - as the news spread, our leaders minced no words to read between the lines all with an eye on show the Narendra Modi dispensation in poor light.

Before I proceed, let me clarify - am no Modi loyalist (watch my videos, you'll agree). However, rationality does egg me on to call a spade a spade. The monumental tragedy is shocking but what is loathsome is this concerted effort on BJP rivals to encash this mishap.

Leading the bandwagon is West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee who is quick to beat her own drums as an ex-Railways minister with the current incumbent by her side. Little does she realise that it's not a platform for self eulogy, but who listens?

Another former Railway minister - the scam-tainted Lalu Prasad wonders where the ministry is heading to. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) steps in questioning the priority given by Centre to railways and there are plenty of such instances.

In the recent past, the wrestlers' protest over sexual allegations on the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was another arsenal to slam the union government and now it's this fatal accident.

Thoda sharam karo (Please be ashamed of yourself). Instead of resorting to acerbic jabs at opponents, rise beyond petty politicking and lend the government a helping hand.

Yes, in a democracy, one has the right to criticise, and nobody disputes it but one needs to maintain a certain amount of restrain over such a cataclysm. Suggestions are welcome but if they are loaded with a vendetta, then you eat crow!

It's easy to demand the resignation of the minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, but does it solve the drawback? And when the Mamatas and Lalus cry hoarse, do they look into their conscience and recall their stints? Forget the magnitude, even a single death is a huge loss.

But, all this cry will fall on deaf ears because with so many crucial polls scheduled including the Lok Sabha polls, it's a free for all to woo voters. Be it the Central government ordinance over control of departments in Delhi or the wrestlers' stir, a fractured Opposition with too many PM aspirants is trying to assemble 'under one roof' albeit personal ambitions hold sway.

At the end of the day, our venerated icons tend to trample on human sensitivities so as to be at the helm of affairs. And by the way, even the saffron leaders are no exception!
