Kudos to the ‘Colonel’ for getting meal orders right

If you have followed my posts here on LinkedIn, you know I’m not a fan of apps.
I find them intrusive and a recent article on Tim Hortons confirmed many of my privacy concerns.
I prefer online ordering, though fastfood chains in particular have gravitated to apps.
That’s why I was excited to see a recent TV commercial for KFC Canada, offering $5 off the first online order through the company’s website.
I gave it a try last week and was pleased with the experience. Establishing an account was seamless and so was processing an order, including getting the $5 discount.*
Even better: The company offered a pick-up option along with delivery so I could pick up my order from a nearby location to ensure it was hot.
Here’s hoping other restaurant chains — and retailers too — offer similar online order options to pair with their apps. It just may widen their base and in turn, grow revenue.
*Just to confirm, this isn’t a paid testimonial but summary of my actual experience.
