KSEBL Secures Approval For 500 MW Solar Power Deal With SECI; KERC Introduces New Regulations For Rooftop Aero Turbines With Solar Power and More...

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission recently addressed a petition by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) regarding the approval of a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) signed with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This agreement facilitates the procurement of 500 MW of solar power with 250 MW available for peak power during specific hours. The initiative falls under the ISTS Tranche XV Scheme, a project aimed at integrating renewable energy with energy storage solutions to ensure a stable power supply.

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has introduced new regulations, 2025 for the installation of rooftop aero turbines (RAT) in combination with solar power systems. These regulations, effective from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette, outline guidelines for distribution licensees and eligible consumers who wish to install grid-connected RAT plants, either with or without solar energy.

A recent tender notice from Himachal Pradesh seeks bids for an 8.33 MW rooftop Solar project, presenting an opportunity for qualified vendors to participate. The notice, issued on January 20, 2025, outlines critical details for prospective bidders, including eligibility criteria and essential financial commitments.

Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, emphasized India’s leadership in the global renewable energy sector during the Regional Review Meeting on Renewable Energy held in Jaipur. He highlighted India’s strong position to meet and even surpass the target of 500 GW by 2030. The meeting focused on the renewable energy progress in the northern states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. The minister pointed out that renewable energy must play a greater role in India’s energy mix, especially with power demand expected to double by 2032.
