KSA Fines Sarah Eternal for Operating without Licence
The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has issued a weekly fine of €280,000 to Sarah Eternal for operating without a licence. The company had been offering games of chance on its website without holding the necessary licence.
The KSA's investigation revealed that the regulator's inspectors were able to access the website, make a deposit, and then bet illegally with Sarah Eternal. The regulator has issued an order subject to penalty, warning that if the company fails to halt the violations, it will face additional fines of up to €840,000.
The KSA's move is part of its efforts to protect players in the Netherlands' regulated gaming market. The regulator has taken a tough stance against illegal operators, and has implemented measures to prevent illegal gambling activities.
The fine comes as the Netherlands' house of representatives recently voted to ban "high-risk" online gambling, including slots. However, the Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA) has expressed concerns that the proposed ban could drive players towards the black market, and has warned that such measures could be harmful for players.
