Kristian’s first three months in IT recruitment
Are you curious about what it's really like to work in IT recruitment? We asked ITR Partners' Recruitment Consultant Kristian Taft to share his experiences and reflections on his initial three months in the field.
Join us as Kristian reveals his favourite aspects, challenges encountered, and valuable lessons learned during his time so far with ITR Partners .
Here's what he had to say...
What is your specialism?
“I specialise in the Testing field in Norway – looking for Technical Testers, Automation Testers, Test Lead & Test Managers mostly. However, I use a wide scope to identify any Project Managers or “Head of” with a background in Testing.”
Are you working closely with anyone in your team?
“Yes, I work very closely with my manager, Jack Axton. He primarily focuses on Cyber, Solution Architecture, and Security. Additionally, I collaborate closely with Jack Nelson, who works on Cloud/DevOps-related roles, and Stephen Dyer, who specializes in Cloud and Software Development.”
What are you enjoying the most about your role?
“I am loving the ITR work environment, as well as how I’m building connections with some really interesting people in Norway.

I seem to be learning so much about the field and the culture which is great for my professional growth.”
What has been your biggest achievement so far?
“Within six weeks of starting, I successfully secured my first placement, which can be quite challenging in the tech industry (so I’m told!). ITR truly values and celebrates accomplishments, so it was rewarding to be recognised for my achievement.
I also feel like I am becoming more and more integrated with the ITR team which is a really nice feeling.” ?
What challenges have your faced so far?
“You could say that trying to find the right candidate who speaks ‘Norsk’ for our clients is challenging!?
On a more serious note – I have been challenged to understand what does work and what needs improvement over in Norway. All candidates and clients are different, and therefore require different approaches or conversations in order to communicate things effectively.
This will be something that I continue to focus on in the upcoming months and throughout my training.”
