Konica Minolta: 2 Years In 5 Minutes
It was 2 years ago, October 5th 2016 that I learnt who Konica Minolta was. I had gotten an offer to meet for lunch regarding an opportunity with a global company here locally in Regina. I thought to myself, "well that sounds great! I wonder what MLM organization I'm going to be getting myself into". When I spent some time talking to a friend, I quickly learnt that Konica Minolta was certainly not an MLM, and that this was a serious opportunity with a ton of potential. We met at Moxies a day or so later where I learnt a lot more about what Konica Minolta was, and the direction they're going.
The manager looking to recruit at the time was full of energy, and just as excited about the company as I was the opportunity to work with them. I mentioned to my dad as I was a second year electrician that I thought I may switch over to sales with KM and he wasn't very positive about it. We talked about the challenges of sales as I hadn't ever done it before, and the professionalism that comes with it. At the time I was looking to be hired I can honestly say that I wasn't the most professional and certainly not the most organized.
Fast forward a month or so and I was hired to work with the company as a sideline employee. I was a fly on the wall trying to learn about the business and the processes within. I was quickly able to learn about some of the traits I wasn't particularly strong in before. I was lucky enough to gain a territory right away but still hadn't gone through my training modules yet. Myself being a learn by action person I decided that I was going to drop my training for the day to go meet some customers. I went to a union, and found out that they had a copier lease up on January 1st. I told the customer when I visited them that I'm brand new and just started the other day but I knew they were paying about $200 bucks a month and by upgrading their copier I could save them at least 20 bucks a month. In my head I thought this was a great savings for them and I was excited. The customer accepted my offer, and I went back to call my manager as I was ready for some paperwork! His first words were what do you mean? You were at a customer location? What did you sell? This may have been a total fluke, but It had me extremely excited to be here.
Seeing where I was within the company and what I was doing at the time to watching and seeing all of the growth in just two short years with new products, solutions, programs, incentives, ideas, and added support to facilitate our sales and implementations has been a tremendous professional experience. Through partnerships, acquisitions and just raw internal growth we have created a business solutions portfolio not only for the traditional business but also for those who are entrepreneurial. We help our clients with essentially every possible solution as far as creating digital work flow, robotic visual presence, virtual check in and reception, business application automation, scanning workflow, high value print, marketing services and IT to name a few. Guiding our clients down the path of new solutions to streamline their business applications and create expandable work environments really allows our clients to scale their operations without the traditional overhead. The world we live in and the challenges we help our clients overcome is to me not only the most exciting, but definitely the most rewarding.
Working in electrical I was always dragging my feet, checking my phone to see when it's lunch time or end of a day! Today, I'm excited as I was the first day I showed up to work with KM as every day is a completely new and unique day. The opportunity to work with the people in this organization has changed my life and impacted me in a such a positive way that I can't imagine where I would have been today if I hadn't made the transition. When you get to see all of our employees who are absolutely ecstatic and in sync with the same goals of delivering and over exceeding in customer service and expectations it really does become something special and my favorite part of the day. We are not a group of 43,000 individuals, we are 43,000 people who are all apart of the team. If you're still following along and feel excited, or want to join me on the journey please reach out as I'm always looking to grow so I can make year 3 even that much better.
