Kobe has always had the heart of champion. And that heart goes beyond basketball. I’ve seen it firsthand. Around 15 years ago, we were very fortunate to work with the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization whose sole mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children. It was there we met Alex - a brave young boy who battled brain tumors for most of his life. But because of his positive attitude it was hard to tell. His wish: to play hoops with the basketball legend of his dreams, Kobe Bryant. Our job was to document it. For a few hours, the world was perfect. Watching them play ball together was magical and healing. To experience a boy realizing his dream and an athlete whose heart is much bigger than any MVP trophy was beyond anything we could ever imagine, let alone document. Kobe stayed an hour or two longer than he was scheduled. And when it was over, Kobe even asked the boy for his autograph. That’s the Kobe I’ll always remember.
Good stuff. Thanks.
