That KNOWledge Thing

That KNOWledge Thing

Bahá’u’lláh said, "Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom."

Not only does this uphold the Nobility of Education, but it confers upon humankind that we are rich in inestimable value as to our capacity to truly learn. That capacity to acquire much needed Wisdom supports our need and desire for Character, Purpose and Unity. The world needs such. Our future needs such.

With that in mind and heart, this past month, I have been digging into KNOWledge as Virtue, posting on:

... and their associated links and resources; all connecting in one way or another with the practice of KNOWledge.

In some ways, think of KNOWledge as robust and healthy Curiosity running towards (and with) Wisdom. It is indeed and in deed... the Star Trek Virtue, the Marco Polo Virtue, the Explorer Virtue. To seek out and boldly go... in daring and diligent Discernment.

Consider KNOWledge...

Seeking to learn, exploring awareness, humble in learning, infinite in reach, learning from missed takes... this is KNOWledge in practice. And it is integral to what we first explored as COOLness back in May.

In the Beginning

This all began with a decision around a personal reclamation project... set out on April 28, in larger part around a personal and better sense of Health and Service. I had decided to dive into what I call 8 Matriarchal Virtues and their relevance to my own self care... and my LIFE/work... and The Epic Engage. That journey continues. As LP Jacks has said,

  • “A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both.”

While I prefer Student over Master, and Studentry over Mastery, the point remains. We are best to hold work, play, labor, leisure, body, mind, spirit, recreation and learning as one in the same. Our Excellence ... our Health, and our Service are found in all. We are not a series of silos... and my current road towards better Health and Service is guided by this notion, and the practice of KNOWledge in travelling it.

And NOW

... after exploring COOLness and KNOWledge, I move onto Adoration...

... as Virtue. Let us not confuse it with adulation. It is the grounding of Devotion, well discerned and decided.

Through July, and with COOLness, KNOWledge and Stoicism in mind and heart, I will be digging into Adoration... in study, conversation, and practice. I increasingly see these Matriarchal Virtues as core to building the kind of Strength that is noble, resolute, composed, patient and enduring; that faces change and challenge with assured footing and step amidst the shifting sands and winds and waves we engage and experience. Adoration, along with COOLness and KNOWledge, is part of that building of Strength. And here, we will explore its Beauty and power.

Let us have an adoring July.
