Knowledge: A Stepping Stone #EduOverEbola

In my life, I failed at everything. Quora gave me a second chance to turn all that around. Without Quora, I would never have become a published author. In fact, my life would still suck today.

What changed my life?

Knowledge.

Knowledge is the key to the future. There is a lot of educational material on the Internet that many of us do not appreciate. Some of us even take it for granted. Unfortunately, for the children in Liberia, they do not have that same privilege, nor do they have the opportunity to change their life around.

Ebola was an epidemic that almost struck America. Even though we missed it, it is running rampant in Africa. In Liberia especially, schools have been shut down since July of 2014.

What does that mean?

That means that all throughout the country of Liberia, the children, such as this boy here are unable to go to school.

What will come of his education?

That is where Rumie comes into play.

Rumie has partnered up with Camp for Peace, an NGO in Liberia that transforms the lives of children and former child soldiers through education.

What do they do?

$5,000 of content is loaded onto a $50 tablet that is sent out to Liberia to help educate 10 children. For each tablet that is brought to Liberia, 10 children are able to learn.

What makes Rumie so unique compared to others?

Abel, a former child soldier turned educator says that this tablet is providing an asylum for hundreds of children.

Marcus was worried about missing school but realizes he is able to improve his math due to the tablets keeping him busy.

Rumie has gathered together private donors to cover 100% of their operating and shipping expenses for this particular project. That means that 100% of your donation will go straight to the field.

We have already reached our first goal of $10,000 and are just shy of reaching our second fundraising goal of $20,000. However, each of our voices can make an impact. We need your help to make this the most successful campaign on the Internet.

Every $50 changes the lives of 10 children out in Liberia and gives them a second chance, much like how I was given when I was able to join Quora. I urge you all to get involved.
