Knowledge is our greatest asset
In my recent blog series, I focused on trends and tensions in the post-trade industry. Undoubtedly, we have come a long way since the Great Financial Crisis, maneuvered through the onslaught of regulation and are now focused on the challenges that the future may present.
One of the key driving factors to take the industry forward is knowledge. Insight into micro- and macroeconomic dynamics will help us understand the developments of the past and to shape the financial world of tomorrow more consciously. Therefore, it will be crucial for us to create an environment that fosters knowledge building and sharing. It is my belief that this is done best through partnerships with the aim to bring together existing expertise to mutually enrich and stimulate new ideas. Clearstream is no stranger to building bridges to take the industry forward – as a matter of fact, we're proud of the partnership approach that we have successfully applied in such diverse areas as our T2S model and our Asia strategy.
We have taken the same stance towards the realm of knowledge. Together with the European Central Bank, Allen & Overy, Deloitte, Brown Brothers Harriman, Lombard Odier and State Street, we are now bridging the gap between research and practice, jointly funding a Chair in Capital Markets and Post Trade at the University of Luxembourg.
The Chair will be located at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance. Research and teaching activities in the field of capital market infrastructures, with a focus on post-trade finance, will be carried out at the Research Unit in Law, in interdisciplinary cooperation with the Luxembourg School of Finance and close collaboration with the business partners.
This builds further on our announcement in February this year that we were researching the potential of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing together with escent and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg. Initiatives like this and the Chair in Capital Markets and Post Trade are ways in which we will ensure that the future workforce in our industry is well prepared for anything that the future may throw at us. I am looking forward to being a part of the cutting-edge research as we jointly take on our journey ahead.
Stay curious for the first results of our endeavors and if you're interested in the professorship or know someone who would be up for the challenge, here's the job announcement!
