Knowing you were there to help took a load off my mind
It’s my business but I have a great support network behind me!
I am a self-employed Travel Counsellor running my business as Samm Avis Travel Counsellor from Rayleigh in Essex. When my clients book with me I make sure I keep it personal and see them through every step of their holiday to make sure they have an amazing time.
But I also need time out and it’s essential for me to travel to research new places. Therefore, when I go away I get support from another Travel Counsellor to act as my buddy to keep my business running whilst I am away.

Also, like most people I like to sleep at night so if my clients have any issues with their holiday, particularly when there are time differences, or they are travelling early or late in the day I have a support team behind me to help with any emergencies. Recently my client needed to call my Duty Office with an emergency. My client and her friends were due to fly from Gatwick to Montpellier on a very early flight but unfortunately the flight was cancelled as a cargo plane had an incident at Montpellier airport. My client tried to call me but as it was very early my phone was on silent, so she phoned the emergency number in the paperwork I had prepared for her. My Duty office took the call and sorted them out on another flight to nearby airport Nice. Once I was awake and saw the missed call, I immediately called my client to check everything was ok. I then worked with my Duty Office to sort out switching their car hire collection from Montpellier to Nice. Panic over!
