Day 344 out of 1,095
Today was packed. Between dealing with startup challenges and the ongoing war, my schedule was at full capacity. But honestly? It could have been even worse—if I hadn’t asked for a deadline extension.
We had a critical presentation to submit to a committee for a program that could significantly benefit our company. The natural instinct? Say yes, push through, and deliver as soon as possible. After all, delays might signal a lack of seriousness, right?
But something in me paused. Instead of automatically accepting the pressure, I took a breath and questioned it. What if we could buy ourselves a little more time to ensure we present something truly great? So, I asked if we could submit by Thursday instead.
And to my surprise? They said yes.
The Hidden Power of Challenging Deadlines
As entrepreneurs, we often fall into the trap of believing we must always meet every expectation immediately. But real leadership isn’t just about working harder—it’s about working smarter.
Investors, partners, and clients aren’t judging us solely on our speed. They assess our ability to manage resources, make strategic decisions, and deliver quality results under pressure. Sometimes, the smartest move is knowing when to push forward and when to ask for space.
This small act—challenging a deadline—can have a big impact. It gives you breathing room, improves outcomes, and shows you’re thinking long-term instead of just reacting.
Your Turn
Have you ever asked for an extension and realized it made all the difference? Let’s hear your story in the comments.
Until next time,
Eliav.
