Knowing the difference
There are so many nutritional supplement program options these days. Most are looking for quick, easy, cheap, and fast solutions without doing their research. I know how crazy busy life can be and we just don't have the time anymore to really study what the best options are.
My goal is to strictly educate the common person who truly wants to make a difference in their health and aging process.

Natural/Organic Products are the way to go. Think about what you put in your body. If it is not all natural, 100% chemical free and contains no artificial anything, you should not be putting it into your body. Your body deserves to de-stress and detoxify... and get HEALTHY.
1. Isagenix: Undenatured Whey Protein. No unnatural products. Complete nutrition for a meal replacement. 240 calories prepared. Has all 90 Building Blocks your Body needs everyday. 242 Nutrients and ALL ORGANIC! NO SOY, NO GMO's, NO SUCRALOSE, our maltodextrin adds nutritive value to the product and is sourced from organic tapioca. This is radically different than other maltodextrin.
2. Shakeology: Processed Whey Protein (Isolate) NOT a meal replacement.
3. Herbalife: Soy Protein (Isolate) it is a row crop, not organic! Protein is acid washed with heat, (Denatured) to help make it less toxic, and only 9 grams of protein.(Also the cheapest of all the shakes to make)

4. Advocare: 1st ingredient is Maltodextrin, (it is a man made sugar that is chemically derived from starch and is used in a number of different foods and sweeteners. Side effects can include anything from, chest pain, heart palpitations, high cholesterol, hypoglycemia, or excess fat if the calories from the sugar is not burned off).Soy Protein and Fructose are the next 2 ingredients! Also has GMO's (Genetically Modified Organisms)......
5. Body By Vi: Soy Protein, a row crop product and loaded with toxins, GMO"s and sweetened with Sucralose, (The majority of ingested sucralose is not broken down by the body and shown to reduce the amount of GOOD bacteria in the intestines by as much as 50%. Maltodextrin derived from GMO starch, whey protein isolates Only 10 Grams of poor Protein, not a meal replacement and in addition is has to be mixed with milk.
6. Slim Fast – GMO, maltodextrin, refined sugar, antibiotics, rBGH, carrageenan
7. Ensure – GMO, soy protein, maltodextrin, refined sugar, artificial colors, carrageen
8. Atkins – GMO, refined sugar, antibiotics, rBGH, artificial colors, carrageenan
9. Special K – GMO, soy protein, maltodextrin, refined sugar, antibiotics, rBGH, artificial colors, carrageenan
10. Isogen – GMO, maltodextrin, refined sugar, whey protein isolate, antibiotics, rBGH, artificial colors
11. Pure Protein – GMO, refined sugar, whey protein isolate, antibiotics, rBGH, artificialcoloring, carrageenan
12. Muscle Milk – GMO, maltodextrin, refined sugar, whey protein isolate, heavy metals (arsenic and lead), antibiotics, rBGH, artificial coloring, carrageenan
13. Youngevity Slender FX -only 105 calories so not a meal replacement, use soy and whey proteins, no source given for whey, so probably low grade from U.S., low carbs, Sweetened with Steviol (stevia)
14. The Shaklee 180 Energizing Smoothies- Their protein blend contains soy protein concentrate and soy protein isolate. Rules them out immediately. It's not a true meal replacement by itself. They suggest mixing it with milk to bring calories up for replacing meals. Cost is $2.72 per serving yielding 16g of protein.
15. The Physique Shake- Their protein blend contains Milk and Whey protein isolate, both of which are denatured. Rules them out yet again. It's a protein supplement, not meal replacement. Cost is $2.22 per serving yielding 14g of protein.
16. Syntrax Nectar Protein: only 100 calories so it can't be a meal replacementcontains soy protein along with whey proteincontains Sucralose is an artificial sweetenercontains Hydrolyzed wheat which is really just another way of saying MSG
17. MonaVie - contains soy, very expensive, only 9gr of protein, not enough calories for a "meal replacement" so they suggest you add milk to it, making it even more expensive, Whey Protein Isolate and Whey Protein Hydrolysate NOT Hormone Free Whey, (whey concentrate is BEST) Whey source not given and since it contains hormones at best it is probably a grade 2 or 3 whey protein. Contains Artificial Sweeteners and/or Flavors.
18. GNC Pro Performance - Their protein blend contains Whey protein concentrate and Whey protein isolate. Additional ingredients cellulose gum, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, milk and soybean.
19. GNC Gold Standard Whey - Their protein blend contains Whey protein concentrate and Whey protein isolate and Whey peptides. Also contains milk and soy.
20. Kirkland nutrition shakes from Costco - 4 and 1/2 teaspoons of sugar per serving, first two ingredients are water and sugar, contains maltodextrin from corn, made with soy protein isolate, sucralose (artificial sweetener), corn oil (GMO), low in fiber, I could go on but I think that is enough for anyone.
21. Genesis Pure - Only 140 (vanilla and berry) to 155 (chocolate) calories not enough for a meal replacement
BIG RED FLAG - Soy Protein Isolate, non GMO, is the main protein only 1 gram of sugar, your brain needs natural sugar to function contains guarana and green tea extract, a natural caffeine not sure why you would need this in a shake as the shake should provide natural energy through nutrition.
They also use a sweetener called Magna Sweet. When searching for information about magna sweet I found a Material Safety Data Sheet.(MSDS Sheet) I worked in the chemical business for 30 years and whenever we worked with or sold any chemical we had to supply the customer an MSDS Sheet. A MSDS Sheet is a document that contains information on the potential hazards (health, fire, reactivity and environmental) and how to work safely with the "chemical product". It is an essential starting point for the development of a complete health and safety program.
22. It Works – GMO, soy protein, maltodextrine, whey protein isolates, antibiotics, rBGH
23 - Juice Plus vs. Greens and IsaFruits Juice Plus Complete Shake- they use soy protein as one of their protein sources. In their Juice Plus Orchard and Garden Blends, there are only 17 different fruits, vegetables, and grains COMBINED. Our Greens contain 33 veggies and our IsaFruits contain 30 fruits.
Here's what Dr. Tony O'Donnell, formulator of our Greens and IsaFruits, states about Juice Plus - "Juice Plus have 1000 mg per serving - we have 10,000 mg per serving. No comparison."

9 年Thank you for the information and I just wanted to ask if you do know that Shakeology has a Vegan option with no whey protein? Is also all organic. No GMO. Full of fruits and vegetables and you can actually pronounce everything on the label. I have tried and used many different shakes in the course of my life. I won't use any other. Any meal replacement should be just that a replacement. For me it is breakfast. It's easy to make up excuses when running out of the house to get to the office in the morning and easy to skip breakfast, or drive through Starbucks. Since I started drinking Shakeology I quit skipping breakfast and going through the drive through. My immune system has become more robust and I have more energy. This paired with Clean eating, fresh fruits and vegetables and lean meats are a must when it comes to not only health but weight-loss. Cut back on the carbs and go easy on the dairy. Since I quit drinking milk my sinuses have gotten a lot better. And my immune system has gotten stronger on Shakeology. I cut way back on the carbs and avoid wheat for the most part. I have lost my bloat and started dropping inches. 9.75 in two weeks with proper nutrition and exercise. I am teaching this way of eating to my kids so that they understand the importance of health and fitness in their lives and the detriments of eating high fat and processed foods. Great article. Thank you! :-)
