Good Morning Brand Builder,
Hope you had a great week and I'm already wishing you a positive and productive new week as we step into the last month of the year! When I started this newsletter I began with talking about the basics of personal branding and really understanding what that is and why it is so important.
So just as a quick refresher, personal branding is simply you! It's a combination of how you see yourself, how others see you, what you want to be known for, how you want people to feel when they interact and engage with you (how do you want them to feel) and of course, what google has to say about you in an online search.
Personal Branding also has a lot to do with your value - your unique value that you have developed through you own personal and professional journey. The value that you have created through your experience, expertise, knowledge and skills that allows you to carry out your day to day activities in your personal and professional life in a way that only you can. What is the problem you solve - differently or better?
We may all come across people in our profession that share the same job title, or have similar tasks and responsibilities, however because of your own journey, their is no one in the world that does what you do, exactly the way that you do it - this is where value comes in.
Value is defined as "the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something"
Have you ever taken a moment to really think about your own value and even more importantly what that value is worth to the people, organization or community that you serve?
Here is a simple exercise that I encourage you to try. Write down 5 words that you would use to describe your value and ask a minimum of 10 people, what words they would use to describe your value to them or to the role that you play in your job. Look out for words that you had also chosen, new words, and words that surprised you.
