Know your Rights!pic by Sheila Rock
Prior to passing away in 2015 Steve Strange had collected all the royalties for Visage from Universal Music Group as per an agreement signed in 1980 and a side agreement signed simultaneously agreeing to 1/6th equal share with the other members. Strange decided NOT to pay on receipt the other musicians share and deny that he had in fact collected the royalties. Adrian Bulluck who represents VISAGE aka Strange also would not correspond with the musicians claiming he had done exactly what he was supposed to do, but he also exclaimed Steve was told to forward to each member exact sums due to each.
Steve was an active drug user so its hard to imagine this happening. UMG would not let any members of the group know any information as they would not recognise the side agreement drawn up by John Cohen at Clintons a top music legal firm who devised it to be the best way for contractual reason's that would work. Sadly it would come back to sting the 5 musicians. Rusty chasing these royalties and introduced Steve Strange to John Pitcher who would he was told sort this out and was willing to finance anything. Rusty Egan was introduced to John Pitcher by JP Iliescu who had promised to make amends for the deceit he had imposed on his former partner Rusty Egan in the 80's Rusty had declined to sign the annul accounts of the various companies that Iliescu had bled with his cocaine fueled lifestyle paid entirely by funds generated by Rusty Egan's adventures. A series of forging Rusty's signature while he was on honeymoon led to selling off all assets and stealing everything he could so on his return the dirty deeds were done. Warner Chappell Music pulled up the drawbridge and buried its head till the storm passed Peter Reichardt MD had now acquired the copyrights of Soft Cell Visage Johnny Hates Jazz B Movie and various writers and producers locking Rusty out of any chance to redeem his 5 years of work. John Pitcher paid Iliescu to rob his former artists Space the french synth band with whom he had world wide No1 success with Magic Fly and he had spent nearly everything on his lavish lifestyle when he heard the song Fade to Grey by the UK band Visage. He tracked it down to a DJ who had a record shop on the Kings Road London and decided to befriend him and purchase a copy of this record in his shop. Universal records had done nothing with the song 90 days after its release it was still outside the top 100, This is a No 1 in France he exclaimed WTF is wrong wit this label, I will call the head of ????? he exclaimed dropping names like Seymore Stein Lucien Grange and Freddie Haayen in NY.
His contacts in France got it heavy rotation radio play and soon Germany and Benelux were calling Polydor the band were not a band only a guy on the door of a nightclub Blitz. He won't do TV he wants to make a video Polydor would not fund Godly & Creme so France Germany Benelux took the travel and hotels budget for a 6 member band and said send us a video for the tv and the video was made for £5k
Reading the credits of the debut album Visage Iliescu saw his opportunity when he exclaimed OH you didn't write FTG but you did all the other songs? I said we all agreed to share everything equally and I shared all my songs Steve shared 2 and I made some more with Midge Ure but Chris Payne is from another band [ Numan ] and he is not in Visage so I was told it's only 3 guys by the other guys manager who was also our manager. WTF he exclaimed Rusty you were fxxked and you need to own your own songs and start a music publishing company and I will finance it.
That was the day I let him in to my life .....If I was equal and even if Chris took 1 3rd the other 2 /3rds could have been 5 guys not 2. Then JP Iliescu would have only told me how to start my own publishing company and I would have sold him a copy. Instead he started my introduction to the liars and thieves in the music industry. This was followed by Cocaine i managed to avoid till the Divorce/ loss of everything and bankruptcy. Everything I tried to do for the next decade was with liars thieves and fraudsters who all used my position to gain for themselves
I left the music industry a broken man and avoided it for 20 years. The nightclub industry was just as bad with criminals and fraudsters many went to our top schools and were delightful people who to this day are proud of their fleecing of tax or using Ltd company fraud like Pitcher Tirade Ltd and a dozen more from a post office address and not on any social media.
Eventually I confronted all the liars and thieves face to face and one by one they all said sorry I didn't meant it ,Blah Blah Blah. They owned nothing, had no children and just stole everything to feed their greed. They all passed away soon after, I wish that was the end of it but John Pitcher picked up where they left off and has had a field day robbing and stealing bands, labels and brands., He lied his way into a position that lawyers and advisors say , forget him move on. [ Because the legal costs [ THEM] are they know beyond you and Pitcher knows that as well and the major label's are having a field day streaming and don t give a fxxx I will move on soon but not without a fight. I will also pass away and my kids won't see a penny and Pitcher will. He will be earning from the income of me and many others our heritage lives on. I want to leave my kids the chance to earn something from my past, to have some RIGHTS.
Picher was paid £32 000 from 1 min of fake Fade to Grey, the writers also earned and the publishers. NO PERFORMERS who created the song and also as a member of the group. IF they had shared equally as they did with every other song by Visage Pitcher Iliescu would never have been in my life.

1 年Rusty, I think you need to explain more about synch rights- people are unaware of all the different royalties such as PRS, MSCS, PPL...actual record or download royalties

1 年Rusty - I struggle to imagine how continually exasperated you must be regarding how so many 'sharks' have bled into your life. You and so many of the Blitz 'crowd' are unbelievably talented, were way ahead of the curve in the '80s, were creative visionaries and produced outstanding music, but fell victims to ruthless personnel who, without doubt, knew what they intended when embroiling themselves in your lives. Incredible! Please keep providing info on this forum, also, focus on the positive aspects of your journey ahead. Sending you only positive energy, my friend. Phil
