Most business owners I speak to fly blind in there business. Some track their leads and pipeline, some track their in progress or WIP but very few track key financial metrics which is really scary.

One of my mentors once said to me 'you can only influence what you track and measure'

How can you focus on creating consistent cash-flow, more profit, take on new staff or scale your business if you aren't sure if you can even afford it.

I had a client who approached me 6 months ago in a tough spot. He was burning cash hand over fist and didn't know where to start to fix the problems.

The business was like a leaky wooden ship. Multiple holes causing water to seep in and they all added up until the business was barely floating above the surface.

So where did we start?

Crunching the numbers.

The truth was, he didn't know his break even point, his cost to serve or how much margin he ACTUALLY had in his work. He had been guestimating for decades and wondering where all the money went.

With a few simple tools, a bit of education and some recalibration, we worked out the problem, implemented a solution and got the business back to profitability for the first time in a long time.

As you can see from the graph, the green line is our trajectory and the business is on track to provide him $100k in profit in addition to being back on a salary for the first time in almost a decade.

I know numbers can be scary but not knowing them can be even scarier. With a few small tweaks you can stop the cash burn and start getting rewarded for what your time is worth.
