I don’t know how I would ever prove it since no one ever tracks students' results but I plan on shouting it from the rooftops!

There is just something about flying that always makes me reflect. I’m writing this on my way to Indianapolis to watch Caitlin Clark play live for the second time. (What can I say I’m a fan). For some reason in this flight I remembered a super terrible but true story of when I landed my first job out of college. I was torn between staying in Dubuque to stay with my girlfriend and going back home to San Diego to find a job where I truly wanted to live.
After college I visited San Diego and applied for jobs. I could NOT get a job in marketing. It is actually quite comical looking at it now - but I did get a second interview at a sales position for a San Diego based IT company. It was a small company of 20 people. Everything seemed great about the company and the two owners who I interviewed with both times. A few days after my second interview I got this call that I’ll never forget:
Owner: “YO Adrian!! Haha listen man I just wanted to give you a call that we would love to hire you for the sales job. It’s yours man! You start next week, what do ya say!?”
Me: “Woooahhh no way!!! I’m so excited thank you SO much I can’t believe I’m super excited to start!”
Owner: “Great! We are pumped to work with you. So enjoy the rest of the week before you get started doing what you gotta do. Go snort coc***e of a h**kers a** or whatever you want! On Monday next week it’s WORK time!
Me: “…. Oh ok thanks bye.”
I had never heard anyone say that. It caught me super off guard. I remember telling my mom in almost a bittersweet tone. Like… I got the job but then the owner said something atrocious. The thing about that job is that the starting pay was $60K. That was A LOT of money especially considering the only job I had landed back in Dubuque, Iowa paid just $27,000 a year.
I said no to the job and I honestly think not moving back to California and staying in Dubuque Iowa to work a $27K job a year was one of those big life decisions that could have changed everything.
If I could have peeped in the future to see how difficult staying in Iowa would be for me from an income and entrepreneurial standpoint, I probably would have taken the money. But thank goodness we can’t see into the near or long term future.
Because staying in Iowa and failing hard barely making any money taught me so many life lessons that have helped me get to where I am today which is a hell of a lot farther than I ever thought was possible. I’m 35 years old today. The thing I think about with this story is how many people have to deal with terrible a**holes for bosses that act like that. It’s another reason why I want to help as many people as I can to teach them how to get financial freedom.
So that if your boss ever pulls or says some crazy ish to you… you can say BYE! Looks like my flight is touching down here soon. God Bless ya’ll!

I’m going to talk some friendly smack on my co-author Dr. Brad Klontz of my upcoming book Start Thinking Rich because I had no idea how much of a newbie he was when it came to marketing.
Dr. Brad Klontz has over a million followers online but working with him on the marketing of the book has shown me he should take my scholarship program haha. I wrote this message to him because he was struggling with getting people to sign up for his funnel for our book:
“Dude. You need to get a grip on your data. If your end goal is to sell our book you need to measure the data in the right context to determine what is working and what is not. For example:
Right now you are having your VA message people. You don’t measure the success or failure of that based on book sales. When you send someone a message or a dm to visit your funnel you should ONLY measure the effectiveness of that based on how many people come from the messages to your funnel.?
Think of it like this. You send 100 messages or DM’s on Instagram. How many people from those DM’s came to your funnel from that? 10 out of 100? 30 out of 100? This is how you measure if it’s effective. That would be called your click through rate.
If you want to measure book sales it would be from the amount of people who have landed on your funnel. If 100 people land on your funnel how many people buy your book. That would be your conversion rate.
Measuring the book sales compared to how many messages you sent is like skipping a step of data so it’s not an accurate way of measuring if messaging people is effective or not."
Brad dug it and started evaluating his data as should you! Always measure what you are doing but make sure you are looking at the right context.
