Know Your Carry distance

You can have all the GPS measurements you think you require to make a golf shot, but unless you know the distance your clubs carry vs the distance the ball finishes you shot will most likely be just another near miss.
Knowing your distance is hard to accomplish because we don't really know if the range balls are short flight or not, if the yardage is measured from where we are or 50 yards away, if the yardage is even correct. Rarely are we in the position to drop a ball at a 200 yard marker and, if hit well, go measure that your 7 iron landed near the 150 yard marker and then rolled to 165 yards.
It is with this knowledge that we approach a well protected and elevated bunker from 140 yards, knowing that between the distance and elevation you should clear the bunker and safely roll to the middle of the green. It is with this knowledge that a missed tee shot requiring a precise landing area 145-155 yards away requires the same 7 iron to carry the pond yet land short of the cart path and decorative gardens.
Improve your scores by improving your strategy. Know your distances, both carry and roll. Play the percentages when you bring your B or C game to the course and minimize the errors for a better round and better experience.
