"Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?" - Luke 6:3.

Jesus wanted to teach the people, but they needed to know where He was coming from as He taught. In other words, they needed to know something about the story to which Jesus was referring in order to understand His intended lesson. The same is true for you and me.

How familiar are you with the Old Testament, and the New for that matter? What are you doing to become more familiar? The more you know, the more God will able to impart to and teach you. Are you in a systematic Bible reading and/or study program? Read Romans 15:4 to further understand why it's important that you know the Scriptures.
