Know When To Stand Out

So I watched the latest work from Joe Crenshaw. Professional edits and high quality filming is a good way to get your point across on video. He seems like a nice enough guy. I recall him because he looks like a white Martin Lawrence.

The ears tipped me. It's not an insult and we as a divided people need to come together. It is important to stand out. I have been loved and hated for standing on my own. Discovering my humor and creativity led me to be loved by students and hated by teachers.

Some teachers feel the need to control students. One particularly awful teacher embraced my humor until he didn't. He allowed me to be creative with vocabulary words and then couldn't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Where was Allen Gannett when I needed him? Probably waiting to be born.

My grades were decent. My creativity was on point. It took me by surprise and created a revolution of the mind. Other classmates felt inspired to use their creativity and it was like the first #NoLongerVirtual.

Until that teacher called me a nasty name in private and in front of my parents. I don't know if they believed in the infallibility of the pope. They believed in the infallibility of teachers and any of my authority figures even if they were mistaken.

My father spoke of contempt prior to investigation. I experienced conviction without further investigation. It did not stop my creativity and desire to make others feel better and engage. No one takes me seriously. Would they take me seriously with a white collar job and 2.5 children? It is no good to gain the world and lose your soul.

Guess I learned something in that school. How do you stand out? I am fascinated by other people's lives and stories. That is one reason I could be President. Everyone has a story to tell. Best of all? I don't play golf.

That is not enough of a platform and 2020 is far away. In seventh grade when most of this missive takes place I learned that public speaking comes naturally. Did Public Speaking Ruin My Life? covered a lot of the same ground. It is important to stand out and make a positive impact. Don't wait for someone to rescue you. Work it out for yourself and remain true to yourself.

Being different is really just being yourself. Too many times we are told to act a certain way, do it this way because it’s how it’s done. Bah , I say , to be unique is to share who you are openly , scars and all. Very nice article buddy, ?? have a good week!

I remember my friend telling me that my teacher at the time, Mrs. Thomson, had told the class that I was "special" once when I wasn't there.? I don't think she meant it in a good way.? I remember that she didn't like the fact that I wrote "Thom" with an "h".? She thought if it was written like that, that it should have the "th" sound like in "this".? So, she always pronounced my name like that.? So, I proceeded from that day on to call her "Mrs. Thomson" with a "th" sound as in "this".? I think that was probably grade 5 or somewhere around there.? I think I still am pretty "special", these many years later.
