In the know.

In the know.

Volume n? 11 ?|? July 2024

Let’s do the news Kubik style.

This is the space that brings you into the know of all things Kubik. With projects happening all over the world, it can sometimes be difficult to spread pride and joy across the entire Kubik network. Here, we can share our stories with all those who work alongside us.

It’s been a minute since we had an edition of In the know.

Let’s recap the last few months together!

WE’VE BEEN BUSY.

Since our last edition, we have racked up the projects.

Some are even underway for next year!

PCC Summit 2024

SUMMIT 2024 was held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from Feb 27-29th. Our Kubik team was the General Contractor for the show and provided our client with a seamless and amazing experience. There were nearly 100 partner turnkey trade show booths and several attendee engagement points, including a 50x50 PointClickCare showcase complete with a silent theatre.

The magnitude of this project was a daunting task, and while we felt the pressure internally, our teams rose to the challenge and made it the best event PointClickCare has ever hosted! Our partner and client were delighted with the quality of our work, the tenacity of our team, and the coordination and professionalism of Kubik and its partners.?

“To say thank you simply does not seem like enough, and I'm not sure that it is, but I am thankful. Every single person that has touched this project has help steer it in the direction it needed to go in order for the on-site team to effectively execute this large-scale project.” –?Jessica Young

Auto Show Season

Kubik dominated the 2024 Auto Show season with 7 clients attending the Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary shows. The success of these booths is a nod to Kubik’s ability to consistently deliver eye-catching high-quality designs.

Nissan’s existing booth was updated for 2024 with an all-new graphic package and custom light fixtures. This feature, along with the integrated dynamic lightbox, which highlighted the new EV zone, received compliments from various attendees. After successfully serving both Toronto and Montreal, Nissan went across the country at the Vancouver, Calgary, and Quebec City Auto Shows.

INFINITI made its comeback to the Auto show for the first time since 2020, attending both Toronto and Montreal. The Vision Qe and the QX Monograph were unveiled at the Toronto Auto Show, representing two new milestones in INFINITI's design evolution. Two members of our client service team were asked to help unveil the cars on show open, and Kubik was honored to take part in this historic event.

Lexus made waves in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver with some impressive displays. We introduced two new sets of fabric towers, each consisting of three 4'x16' light boxes, segmenting the show floor with its own distinct vibe. To tie the booth together, we constructed a brand new beMatrix back wall. Altogether, we covered more than 20,000 sq. ft. of booth space! We went big, and it totally paid off.

Kia had significant footprints in both MTL & TOR (while also participating at QC & CAL). With their focus on sustainability, Kubik supported the transformation of the Special Zone into the EV Education Zone, with "innovative applications of sustainable materials to underscore Kia’s earth-friendly direction". Plus, a reveal at CIAS displayed a gold-wrapped EV9 for their win of “North American Utility of the Year”.

Hyundai showcased over 15 vehicles in MTL & TOR and highlighted the NHL Edition Vehicle, the Sante Fe Hybrid. As the official sponsor of the NHL All-Star Fan Fair Weekend, the booth incorporated a Hockey Shootout Challenge alongside NHL-wrapped cars. Hyundai also featured Spot the Dog from Boston Dynamics, where Spot showed off skills like walking up and down stairs, dancing, and striking a pose.

Genesis unveiled the GV80, their first-ever SUV model, at this year’s auto show circuit. At the Toronto show, visitors were wowed as they first entered the show with a beautiful display at the top of the entrance escalators, making it a not-to-be-missed display.

Volvo’s all-new, fully electric EX90 made its official public debut in Canada at CIAS. Even as a last-minute entry, and with the challenge of a narrow booth space between giants like Ford and Chevrolet, Volvo’s booth stood out. beMatrix was utilized for the backwall, hanging signs, and storage room. To support their sustainability message, the booth design was simplistic and unified, featuring forest graphics throughout the space.

CDK at NADA in Vegas

For 50 years, CDK Global has been empowering automotive dealers with the tools and technology they need to build deeper relationships with customers, and for the last decade, Kubik has been by their side. For the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) in Las Vegas this year, we designed and built a new 90'x80' double-deck booth to launch the new CDK logo and brand identity. The booth incorporated 30 technology demonstrations, 9 meeting rooms, a 1200 sq ft hospitality lounge, and a theater area with insight presentations. The new booth was a huge hit with our client and their customers alike and is a great success of the combined Kubik team effort across our Toronto, Maryland and Las Vegas locations.

Philips at ECR in Vienna

We delivered our biggest 飞利浦 booth for this year in Europe – 1400 sq m at level 2 of the ACV building in Vienna. It included 6 LED walls, full CT and MR gantry including Ambient Experience. For the first time, we executed the DXR gantry onsite. The pink lounge included 8 full Ultrasound set-up and a scanning challenge, and the Sustainability lounge included a train with photo opportunity.

HIMSS24: Philips, PointClickCare, Notable & Best Buy Health

Kubik was at the HIMSS floor again, supporting 飞利浦 , PointClickCare , Notable , and Best Buy Health . An incredible effort was made by all teams involved resulting in a seamless execution on all 4 booths. Philips and Best Buy Health were both recognized by Event Marketer as top booth builds from this year’s conference. ?

Honeywell Double Decker: Modex

At this year’s Modex, we designed a 110' x 40' layout for 霍尼韦尔 with a beautiful double deck structure. Up top were two meeting spaces, and below was an additional larger meeting room. In addition, multiple interactive demo kiosks, a large archway feature wall with interactive touchscreens and plenty of cool client-provided toys rounded out the booth. According to our client, this was the best setup she has seen for Honeywell at Modex shows to date.

Navien

We're thrilled to be supporting Navien, Inc. , one of our newest clients! A pioneering leader in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry, Navian is renowned for its innovative and eco-friendly products that redefine comfort and efficiency. At Kubik, we're honored to partner with Navien to elevate their brand presence through immersive experiences in ways they have never engaged before.

We geared up to support Navien for AHR (Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating) Expo and IBS (International Builders' Show). Both shows were a huge success. Kubik enhanced the design with LED and AV features to provide a more immersive experience, and the client couldn’t have been more pleased. Our collaboration with Navien extends far beyond trade show exhibits. We're excited to embark on a journey of continuous creativity, working together on a dynamic program throughout the year.

Z by HP

As a provider of hardware and software solutions for Data Science and AI users, HP presented their desktops, mobile workstations, displays and Data Science software at the NVIDIA GTC Conference. Z by HP is one of the key AI leaders and partners of NVIDIA, with a focus on innovation and customer needs. Space was maximized with numerous demo locations and a theatre area for presentations. The entire structure was beMatrix and fabric, and the graphics were vibrant against the black background. Z by HP was also featured at NAB.

HP Poly at Enterprise Connect

Enterprise Connect marked the first time Kubik worked alongside the Poly division at HP . EC is an event that showcases communication devices for enterprise-level businesses. HP had a 30x40 booth with a meeting room to launch their new conference camera, hero product walls, and space to highlight their extensive range of products.

Boots on the Ground

Our Kubik Amsterdam team grabbed their boots and a portable heater for the BOOT trade show in Dusseldorf, combatting the arctic circumstances during the installation. The team installed for Bayliner Boats , Quicksilver and newbie Navan. It was a true team effort!

Upside Down at MOTN Festival

Joost from our Amsterdam office was in the Emirates to install the temporary Upside-Down Instagram exhibit at the Mother Of The Nation (MOTN) Festival. You could say he bent over backward… or should we say upside-down for this project.

Mimaki at FESPA

Mimaki hit the FESPA floor with a brand-new look. Our Dutch team was with our client in the Middle East to help make it happen.

Kubik in Paris

Our Kubik Amsterdam team took the train south to support the installation of a small but cute booth for dsm-firmenich at the Cosmetagora trade show.

MORE Kubik IN THE NEWS…

Special Olympics

For many years, Kubik has been dedicated to supporting Special Olympics Canada (SOC). Kubik provides SOC with custom-built displays, including full graphic production used at the National Games and the annual Limitless Gala. In 2023, the gala raised over a million dollars in support of athletes across Canada, and a few Kubik team members were in attendance.

In February, we also supported "Donut Days", a SOC and Tim Hortons partnership, and the “Donation Match” initiative, a SOC and Empire Group partnership.

We, as an organization, are proud of continuing to support SOC and look forward to the upcoming provincial summer games in Saskatchewan this August.

ABPM Spring Conference

Kubik's very own Jim Marotta and Dave Brull took the stage at the Solution Partner Showcase at the ABPM Spring Conference in Santa Clara, CA. Jim was featured on the “It takes a Village: Orchestrating the Complex Collaborations Behind World Class Centers” panel featuring the Johnson Controls OpenBlue Innovation Center. Dave put on his teacher hat to facilitate a session called “Challenges? Shake’em off...ABPM’s 2nd Annual Hack-a-Thon!”. It is always an honour to share our expertise with others and continue to grow as leaders in this industry.

Museum Day

International Museums Day was on May 18th! To celebrate, we featured some of kubik maltbie’s most recent projects in a countdown on social media. Don’t forget to engage with these projects on our social channels!

kubik maltbie award

We’re delighted to share that kubik maltbie’s recent project Misko-Aki: Confluence of Cultures at The Muskoka Discovery Centre in Gravenhurst was recently awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Exhibitions from the Canadian Museums Association (CMA). This exhibition conveys the presence of Indigenous peoples extending back millennia, including the histories and current experiences of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabek, Métis, and Haudenosaunee peoples.

DEI at Community Engagement Day

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee was honored to be a part of the Community Engagement Day at St. Edmund Campion C.S.S. in Brampton. Members of the committee volunteered as part of a larger group of Black community professionals, entrepreneurs and community members to share their expertise with the high school students. The school put together a reel from the event here – see if you can spot the Kubik team!
