Know HER Power Unconditionally

During my school days, every year during the Tamil month Masi (February – March) excitement would go around the girls studying in my class. They would discuss the 20-day festival celebrated with much grandeur at Sri Kottai Mariamman Temple.

Girls who were living near the temple would invite their friends to come to their houses and watch the grand processions of the deity all through the night.? Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to go and watch those grand processions.

Though I did not get the opportunity to watch those processions, I got the opportunity to watch the crowd marching towards the temple with their Agni chatti. ?Men and women from the surrounding villages would walk to the temple.?

I would stand at the main road and watch with awe those men and women who were carrying the Agni chatti or the Fire pot to the local Mariamman temple during the annual festival.?? The men and women took their fire pots to the temple.? The interesting thing to note here is no one would feel the heat on their palms.

When I was twenty years old, I got the opportunity to carry one of those fire pots.?? My mother allowed me to hold the fire pot. ?Meenakshi, the old lady who worked in our Rice Mills would do this every year during the annual festival.? Willingly, I carried her fire pot to the temple.?

What a surprise!!? The fire pot glowing with firewood felt cool against my palm.? It was a miracle.?? The cool fire pot reflected the blessings from the Goddess Mariamman. That was the moment that gave me the evidence.? God exists in this world.

All the way she would be walking with someone’s support.? But once she reached the temple, she would carry it and run along with the crowd around the sanctum of the deity.? I really wondered where she got that energy.?

Though many events happened around the clock for twenty days, we could visit only once or twice.? One more important event to add was the people walking down the fire pit unharmed.

Never spent much time enjoying all the programmes that were watched by huge crowds from all the villages around Dindigul.

There are many instances where I have felt the blessings of the Goddess. During a tough situation at home, I didn't want to leave my mother alone at home. At that time I would pray and request the Amman to take her of my mother until I returned from work. And she definitely took care of her.
