Out as Early View in #ValueInHealth Journal, a illustration of flexible Buget Impact Modeling for #SickleCell Gene therapy under alternative pricing and financing options for US CMS Main conclusion: I show that significant budget impacts for funding sickle cell gene therapy are not mitigated across alternative financing mechanisms at any given price. The price determines most of the budget impact. The option of a patent buyout may help negotiate down prices to effective monopoly prices. #ISPOREurope ISPOR—The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research The CHOICE Institute National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute https://lnkd.in/gn2hghDu

Last week, It was great reconnecting with friends and sharing my research at the SOCIETY FOR MEDICAL DECISION MAKING INC conference in Boston! I presented our work on precision screening in CML, where we used a local imputation algorithm to fill data gaps and then applied predictive models to forecast future biomarker levels, enabling more tailored patient monitoring strategies. I also shared a poster about a real-world data and microsimulation model to analyze how out-of-pockets costs impact diabetes management and long-term health outcomes. Both projects are part of exciting collaborations at The CHOICE Institute, where we're advancing research in healthcare decision-making and policy!

Join us on Thursday, November 14th for the Don B. Katterman Lecture marking the 45th anniversary of collaborative practice agreements (CPAs) in Washington State. Team J (#iykyk) will be talking about the impact of CPAs on pharmacist care for Washingtonians and policy opportunities moving forward to further support patient care and public health, align pharmacist authority with their training and experience, and aid a strained healthcare system. Julie Akers Jennifer Adams Jenny Arnold, PharmD, BCPS
The annual Don B. Katterman Memorial Lecture returns to campus on Thursday, November 14 with a timely topic for our pharmacy family: 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of expanded pharmacist-driven services through Collaborative Practice Agreements (CPAs) in Washington. For this lecture, we're hosting a dialogue on prescriptive authority practices for pharmacists with Dr. Julie Akers of Washington State University and Dr. Jennifer Adams of Idaho State University. Moderated by our very own Dr. Jenny Bacci –?Endowed Associate Professor in Innovative Pharmacy Practice and National Academy of Medicine Fellow in Pharmacy – we'll discuss the history of CPAs in Washington State, the expanded access to care and reductions in healthcare costs associated with these services. Julie and Jennifer have worked together for many years on this topic, often in collaboration with Jenny. This moderated panel discussion offers a conversational, engaging look at different models for this practice and the impact they can have on patient care. In keeping with tradition, the annual Don B. Katterman Memorial Lecture is provided as a free continuing education (CE) credit opportunity for #HuskyPharmacists through our joint providership with Washington State Pharmacy Association. For others, the cost is $15. To receive your credit, you'll need to complete an online survey after the event with a brief quiz on the lecture content. Registration is open now for virtual and in-person attendance. We'd love for you to join us!
