HISTORY AND CULTURE
In Bertioga is the Fort St. John. Built in 1547, it is considered the first fortress erected in Brazil. Today, it is a place destined to learn our history, involving children and adults in a pleasant visit, culminating with a beautiful view of the Bertioga Canal. Visits are monitored and can be scheduled by calling 3317-4128.
The Vila of Itatinga is another heritage of Bertioga and that is part of the history of Brazil. Authentic English village, built in 1910, houses the country's first hydroelectric power plant and which until today helps supply energy to the Port of Santos, the largest in Latin America.
