Pleating is a technique that creates texture and volume by folding or pleating fabric. It originated from traditional hand-weaving techniques and allows breaking free from the limitations of flat surfaces by varying the depth, shape, and combinations of pleats, making garments more interesting, dynamic, and distinctive.
Based on different pleating techniques, there are generally seven types:

? Wire pleats: Wire pleats are formed by using stacked wires, with multiple wires arranged at intervals of 1 centimeter or its multiples. The wires can be easily removed and are widely used in chiffon fabrics.
?Fan pleats: Fan pleats can be categorized as machine-made fan pleats and handmade fan pleats. The former is limited to ordinary fabrics, while the latter is relatively more flexible and widely used.

In terms of pleating techniques, there are five main approaches:
?Machine-pressed uniform pleats: The desired pleat amount is pre-designed on the fabric pattern, and then the fabric is pressed by the machine's external force to achieve uniformly pleated effects. Various types of pleats can be achieved, such as wave pleats and toothpick pleats.
